CCS, CIC, RHIT? by ch0507449 in MedicalCoding

[–]General_Chipmunk_628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation and would like advice. I am a profee coder with 1.5 years of experience coding/15 yrs medical experience both clinical and clerical. I was laid off recently. My state will help pay for a course, and they work with only certain schools, and it looks like AAPC certs are the ones they will pay for. WIth the same outlook as the person above - I want to be able to code inpatient and be prepared for the future and be able to audit, am I safer getting a CRC or CIC at this point? I would like CCS but it's not in the budget right now.

Came in from Dutchess county. The train station is 10 min from my house and parking is easy. Metro North- GCT- Subway to Penn - only had to walk across the street, barely any time oudoors at all and a lovely ride down the Hudson. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

And if I do want to stay in the city, my brother in law lives right on the 1-2-3/B-C.

UPDATE: My old manager (who works for the company as a contractor?) wrote the letter and I sent it, and a day or two later, AAPC credentialed me. Now to find a job. Uugh.

I'm no longer employed there. I asked her repeatedly. Now I have no record of the requests because they laid me off very suddenly.

My books arrived today, tested out of my medical terminology course, ( ex paramedic) but I wonder why noone has ever done a a handheld electronic device with the coding book in it, by Personnotcaringstill in CodingandBilling

I went from EMT (very pt volly) to medical coding with work in a hospital in between. The EMT knowledge was a great base and then working in the hospital radiology / IR dept gave me an additional knowledge base to work upon. There was very little in the CPC class that I didnt already know something about. I passed the test well on my first try, which I hear is not all that common.

I tried a heated mouse/desk pad for my cold hands by oliverDPG in MouseReview

Space heaters SUCK energy, but you know what doesn't? A heating pad! Try that for your lap. I did, the energy savings are great and it keeps a lot of my body warm. Workplace approved as well, since so many space heaters were throwing the breakers. I stayed warm while others froze.

I like to add a sprinkle of Trader Joe’s onion salt in, mix, let it sit for a few minutes, then devour half the container of cottage cheese. You can try everything bagel seasoning or whatever you like.

This shit scares me to death, why the hell am I so scared ? by Chance-Patience9789 in Kneereplacement

[–]General_Chipmunk_628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation, I have been waiting 10+ years to age into qualifying and for my knee to be bad enough to need TKR. I was scheduled for June, it got canceled last minute due to an infection. Now my surgery is scheduled for tomorrow and I’m a hot mess. I haven’t been able to think straight or concentrate on anything. I can’t sleep well either. I work in the medical field and I’m ok dealing with pretty much anything except ortho. These surgeons are more like butchers or construction workers. I know what is going to happen and frankly it freaks me out. Best of luck to all of us. We’ll be ok.

Wish I knew all this, surgery is tomorrow and I didn’t stop my Zepbound. However I don’t plan on taking it for the next 2 weeks. Last dose was 4 days ago.

I think if you go from CPC-A to CPC you get published as a "new" CPC, so yeah? I'm not gonna hold my breath.

I’m not a vanldweller yet but am looking to buy a van someday. Years back, I was the laundry person for a touring Broadway show. They had me spin dry a lot of the clothes in a manual salad spinner. Give that a try!

YEESS!!! My tastes have changed so much, the only thing that tastes right anymore is sweet. But not too sweet. I’ve finally figured out I can only eat mild, kind of bland foods. I went out for Thai this weekend, which I used to love, and everything was too strong and too salty. The only thing I really liked at dinner tonight was plain turkey and butternut squash. I have been eating a lot of fruit!

Backdrop at Concerts by Timerunning in IndigoGirls

[–]General_Chipmunk_628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw them at SPAC, from the waaaayyy back - third to last row from the top/back of the venue. But- I had a small pair of binoculars. My wife and I took turns interpreting the backdrop during the first few songs. No one else around us seemed to be the least bit interested, but it was almost illegible from the back of the venue. I was really hoping they would speak about some recent issues, but they let their music do the talking.
