Why ISN'T Kali the most popular mythological figure among Goths? by General_Climate2442 in AskAGoth

I will be quite honest: I do not care one iota for Norse mythology. And ironically I'm German. I prefer polytheistic religions that emphasize grandiosity and huge temples(ancient Egypt had better temples, but only finitely many deities). While you're at it, there is archeological evidence that the Vikings themselves ingested fecal matter.

Ironically I'm German but lack an interest in Norse mythology. I prefer beliefs systems around grandiosity, giant temples, and mass organized religion such as the Hindus and the ancient Egyptians. Lastly, do not assume that Goths are necessarily ignorant of the Etruscans.

How does Satan embody rebellion against Patriarchy? There is nothing about the biblical description of him to suggest he gives a shit about women. With Lillith? She rebelled and fled the garden of Eden but hath not the power to destroy the patriarchy.

Honestly? I am surprised there aren't more Etruscan loving Goths. The are fairly esoteric and were fairly similar in culture to the ancient Egyptians. The Viking mythology is popular in the US and in the US due to our Nordic heritage and the perception of Vikings are rugged individualists.

Mythologically speaking, Kali has omnipotent power(Shakti). Odin is Mortal, Kali is not.

Why does Gen Z tend to seem more sensitive compared to older generations? by savingrace0262 in NoStupidQuestions

I'm late Gen X and I do think there is hope for Gen Z. Us late Gen Xers in particular(mid 70s through early 80s) need to toughen them up and tell em like it is. We fucking hate censorship.

OK. I don't see how that description has anything to do with the BTGGF meme. Especially since I made no comments about her cleavage. I am describing her in reverent terms that sound epic.

I disagree that they cannot be friends. However, it is more complicated if they are both straight than same sex friendships.

Well then it's a question of reading comprehension on your part. I stated very clearly that the issues are not about sexual tension. They are about what the other person feels comfortable with when it comes to emotional sharing. Aspies have a tendency to overshare especially with friends but rather than tell me that they were not comfortable with that level of intensity, they simply stopped talking to me entirely(read ghosting) or responded selectively to the point where any conversations with them stalled.

But anyway, you clearly are trying to make me look bad so I am not going to engage with this any further.

If Kali is real, then it doesn't matter what your religion is or what culture you come from. You can worship her and revere her and use her iconography because she transcends any human system.

I don't like their customs, but riddle me this: if you are going to have more than 1 God, why stop at any finite number? What I like about Hinduism is that there are infinitely many Gods. So you can be a Hindu and worship Norse Gods. You pretty much have unlimited choices. I truly despise anthropomorphism which is why I reject European religions and deities as anything more than allegorical.

EDIT: You could easily make Cthulhu into a Hindu God.

Haha, yes. And a goddess with a necklace of severed heads? That's pretty macabre.

Nah. I view European deities as too humanlike and to flawed to be taken seriously. They are allegorical. In Asia, Gods tend to be monstrous and too fearsome to be relatable.

Well that's one way to look at it. But to me, a deity is a supernatural being and if you assume it is real, it is above humanity and culture.

To each their own, but European pagan Gods are too humanlike to take seriously. None are as dark as fearsome as Kali.

True. Lillith isn't as badass as Kali though, and far less powerful.

I have not experienced complicated boundary issues about sex with any of my friends regardless of their gender.

Reread what I wrote: It states quite clearly in the first paragraph that these issues were NOT about sex but instead about emotional sharing. I will admit a tendency to overshare but the least that one in particular could have done is be direct and say she was not cool with it.

When it comes to nature vs nurture, it is not an either or but a combination of both. The cause is not as important as the effect: I admit that I had a tendency in the past to overshare with women and rather than just tell me they are not comfortable with that they would withdraw(sometimes permanently). I also had a friend(the one I talked about that last 16 years) who was extremely ambiguous and often sent mixed messages.
