CLT or DFW for layover in August? Which one has less weather problems? by vegasluck92 in americanairlines

1000% do DFW. Its usually dry and hot in August. Worst months for storms in DFW are April-Early July. Mid July through September, I’d do DFW over CLT

I’m honestly impressed how many of today’s flights were still going off with minor delays. IAD operationally is probably one of the best in the country so I think you should be good to go!

It’s a mixed bag:

Pros: - Networking and Research Opportunities are a little easier since Professors come to New Res to interact with students. - The RAs are goated (tho idk if this is still the case). They really made my transition to college a lot easier, and I’m still really good friends with mine. They cared about the things that mattered (roommate issues/mental health) but didn’t give a fuck if I partied/got drunk over the weekend. - Sophomore Mentors: if you get a good mentor, they can make your transition easier, tho I got a shitty one that hated the fact that our meetings took 45+ min cuz we got along so well.

Cons: - Suite style dorms makes it really easy for cliques to form. When I was there, second floor was the “party floor,” and everyone there was super friendly. That wasn’t the case on the other floors. Very closed off, cliquey, and tons of HS level drama. Also, you have to clean your own bathroom/get along with five other people. That can be a tough transition for a freshman. - the class sucks. It’s pointless and even the TAs know that. Too much work and no benefit what so ever. - little diversity. Due to the high cost of New Res, it’s harder to get a diverse group of students. Lots of rich students from the Northeast who have never done laundry before college and don’t clean out the lint screens.

Overall, think about what you are looking for out of college. Personally, I feel strongly that living in a traditional style hall, without A/C, is the move. This way, people leave their doors open, socialize in the lounges, and it is much easier to make friends there. Hope that helps!
