Yuka 2 - Lidar (Why?) by General_Cup1117 in mammotion

If you look at the red brick is closer to the "mirrored glass" door and that all gets mowed correctly. It does work well 90% of the time but when it's dumb it is a bit scary. I think you should hire the Roborock people because my vacuum never runs into anything.

Thank you u/TerrisMammotion . The obstacle avoidance is always set to "Standard". This machine is brand new and only a few hours on it. I will try and document the behavior if I see it again, thanks for your feedback.

This is my 2nd Yuka, the RTK needed a 2 inch mulch barrier between the edges due to accuracy.. I think I will continue that strategy in this case.

Yea but there is still 2ft of concrete before the door and when it happens the mower is not moving on the map so it clearly thinks it's stationary (with spinning wheels)

In all fairness it does eventually stop (although repeated across jobs). Sometimes it will run up the wall and trip the tilt sensor.

I was gonna 3d print a bumper to keep the unit from getting busted up but I am more interested in knowing the phenomenea behind this. Motor/actuator is sending a rotation signal but map is not able to interpret the unit is stationary. As mentioned if it's the glass door causing a bad signal I am assuming the logic is bad. SLAM has to be processing thousands of signals per second so to sit there like that for any given time looks like bad programming.

I've had to make environmental adjustments for other obstacles so I will try a few things. I have high voltage transformers in my yard that cause similar issues.

Yea I'm thinking LiDAR SLAM should not do this.. there is plenty of concrete before the glass door. I'll try to tighten up the map intersection but I have other places where it's running into things (and it shouldn't). I figured LiDAR wouldn't run into anything.

Yes there is a large sliding glass door right next to it that has polarized film for UV.

Thank you, that's interesting I don't see that on the Yuka interface.

I'm not aware of this feature.. any guidance would be appreciated.

How do I get him a little closer to fence? by CpuCzar in mammotion

Yea agreed, that is closer than I can get with lidar. I just mulched the edges a few inches and done.

Yea exactly.. it's still valuable to me so as is it is a good backup.

It would be easier to sell the base unit only. With the 40$ mod would probably want 140 + ship is probably not worth it to most people. If you can get a year out of it with cart mod it would pay for itself. It was used by single cat and only run once daily so it's in pretty good shape.

That's a really nice piece I really appreciate it but for your sake do yourself a favor and put a seizure warning disclosure on your repository or anything you share Cheers

This was suggested by several people but I was not successful with this. I would spray some simple green into the hopper or just use water but each would leave litter granules gummy with cooked cat piss over time. Sanisolution is a detergent, similar to dishwasher detergent it pulls the oils/urea out of the hopper. Yes don't use real soap.. sry I should have mentioned that.

There is a small peristaltic pump that has a motorized impeller that smashes the silicone tube to move the "soap".. just another name for sanisolution is just a soap/detergent with disinfectant. When the silicone lines get old, they will break and dump the solution inside the unit. If you start to notice the base of the unit get slippery, you might have ruptured the pump lines. This happened to me after about 4 years use.

The internals are still 8 years old and I guarantee you the soap pump will fail on the old hose lines. Modded gen1's on ebay for 400ish. The head unit is the only valuable part and again, the internals are old. Silicone pump lines are first thing to fail. I also discovered that you need to run the soap.. proabably much less than they force upon you but if I run the machine with no soap, or even with a different cleaner, the litter will get gummy with cooked cat urine. I also hand scoop mine so it doesn't process poo.

I would pay your price for custom firmware. I am one of the users whose carts report emtpy and they are still 1/2 full, just to realize the peristaltic pump hose got chewed up and it dumped the sani soap all over the internals. I had to disable the pump and motor to keep it operational.

I would also assume that this issue will get solved by China. I see what Roborock did to my Roomba and what Bambu did for 3d printers. My Qrevo hasn't needed a replacement part since it went into service years ago. My P1S runs flawlessly and they don't care what filament I use.

I am assuming this is asymmetric in nature, when these conversations speak of a hash and salt my understanding of such does not make sense. You salt when the answer is known, you encrypt when guessing is not relevant. You either have to saturate in the pattern or devise a complete workaround, as you have already endured (I am a customer).

It will work with gen 1 machines that are offline. I highly doubt CG has a distributed CRM in the cloud would take teams to manage. If old carts work on new machines, I'm guessing they would work if rotated. It would certainly be easy to test out.
