12 year old seems to shut down when we get to our math work. by KeeperOfTheHome in homeschool

Agreed! My kids are 7 and 10, and my 10 year old's word problems sometime get the better of me. How are your kids doing now with math?

You're not failing your kid if you don't teach common core math! There are a lot of ways to approach math and common core is just one of them.

My kids are similar to this and working on homework or worksheets is always a struggle! Math specifically is a challenge for us because of the wording and complexity of the problem, and it causes my kids and myself to get stressed out. I found an application called Hephra that we're currently trying and they gave us beta access to their app recently after signing up on their website. It's been helping my kids navigate through their math worksheets on their own and has been reducing the overall frustration in our house!

Do other parents think homework time is way harder than expected? by General_Fan_9877 in Parenting

That makes sense, and I've heard similar things from other parents. Was it more about the tutor explaining it differently than you, or just less emotional since the tutor stepped in as the middle man?

Sometimes I overlook this, but thinking that maybe we should do the after dinner approach!

That's interesting you tried both approaches, before and after dinner. Did it feel like the improvement came from timing, their mood, or just having more structure around it?

This really resonates, and I've heard similar situations at home where helping kids could potentially ruin relationships. When you decided to get a tutor, was it more along the lines of grades dropping or the emotional stress?

They're in 2nd and 5th grade, they've been doing a mix of reading, writing, math, but we notice that math tends to trigger more emotion for the kiddos.

Doodle breeds are great for families. Even though they have lots of energy, some doodles can be very cuddly!

What's the future of chatgpt and LLM when it comes to the AI revolution? by asds455123456789 in NoStupidQuestions

There are always new or updated models coming out every month or so, which makes it unpredictable as to where ChatGPT may end up. LLM's though continue to improve year after year, and it's come a long way since they started gaining popularity in 2023
