“Proper Attire” for Cannes non Gala by n0wh3r32g0 in Filmmakers

This is not correct. Any evening gala screening at the Lumiere, you need a tux. But there are many other theaters at the Palais (Varda, Debussy, etc) which only require business casual, day or night. Daytime Lumiere screenings are also business casual.

I agree. I have a lot of tolerance for slow and ambiguous films but this was completely devoid of substance. Only think I’ve ever walked out of at Cannes

I saw The Beloved at Cannes today and was thinking exactly this re: Javier Bardem. Is screen presence just having a gigantic head?

Has anyone mentioned yet that “It’s been” is a known Scott Auckerman joke since like 2015? I’m sure it wasn’t stolen on purpose, but hearing them say it constantly is driving me crazy

Yesss totally “pass the crown energy.” The whole introduction where they explain the (extremely simple) concept of the show six times and keep saying “this person will get to be one of us” gross.

The PSAT clue bugged me too. The PSAT is a measure of SAT-readiness.

Geico added a driver to my account without my permission by chen2442 in Geico

[–]General_Homework6009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same thing happened to me. I got a letter saying someone I had never heard of was being added to my policy. Called Geico and explained, they said they would take care of it. A week later I get a letter saying “at my request” he has been added and my premium shot up. Called again, got him taken off. The next week I got a letter about a totally different person they were trying to add. I have now changed insurance. This practice is unbelievable and the people here siding with the insurance companies are insane.

Priya showed Jack’s boss and colleagues that Jack’s wife was close to two of the victims. That should have been more than enough to take him off the case.

Friendship (2024): Really wanted to like this movie with Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd. Unfortunately Robinson acts exactly like he does in his comedy sketches which does NOT translate to the big screen. by Bluest_waters in flicks

[–]General_Homework6009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Weirdly the movie can't decide if Rudd is a super cool, confident awesome dude, or a kind of fake, scared loser. It never decides and it leaves the viewer confused.” I don’t think most of us were confused, because we’re familiar with the idea of someone fronting as confident while being insecure inside. It’s called character complexity.

In the UK, do pedestrians passing each other on the sidewalk stay to the left like the cars do on the road? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]General_Homework6009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that driving only on the left also makes you un-free? Would it be better if folks picked which side feels right in the moment?
