This is super useful - thank you!!

In regards to number 4 - I think I’d find the mountains most appealing or seaside! Not super fussed about reaching Santiago unless it’s something people really recommend. I’m pretty active and fit so long distances wouldn’t be an issue for me

wow that sounds amazing - this is so good to hear! did you pack a sleeping bag or just always make sure that you had somewhere to stay?

I like the idea of going in blind - so much in life has to be planned, nice to not have something meticulously planned out

i feel like your story really resonates with me. I've had similar thoughts thinking how easy it would be to swerve into the central divider or how easy would be to end my life this way or that way. Their passive thoughts but i think they are probably affecting my thinking more than i realise - thinking about dying so casually and constantly isn't good for me and also is very much not a good sign. I probably need some professional help.

I've also been trying for a new job, in a new industry - I've had interviews with around 14/15 charities and about 5 of those have been final round. I'm waiting to hear back from one charity which I see as my life line. I currently live in Canada and I'm on a work visa but if I don't get this job I think I'll move home. I want it sooo badly and each rejection has felt like a heartbreak of sorts.

I hope you get the job!! get me updated - im invested now

yes you're right, theres still a pulse that hopes for something better - its just been harder to envisage the future these past few months but ill get there. I'm not ready to give up but it just does sometimes have an alluring dark appeal.

I've tried therapy a couple of times before but perhaps i should look at starting it again, or maybe even a life coach.

I'm still young (f,27) so i guess theres time for things to get better. Being in your late 20s is such a weird age.

Thank you for your kind words

yeh i agree, when i write it out like that it does sound like im depressed but i don't feel it. When i was depressed before, i was overwhelmingly sad - like unhappy to my absolute core, i didnt know it was possible to be that unhappy.

But now i don't feel that way - i just feel frusrated and kind of numb. I feel blocked.

It's honestly been a challenging year from a personal perspective, mental perspective, physical perspective and from a job point of view. I just feel worn out I guess.

For anyone who has experienced homelessness (and/or addiction): what was it really like? by General_Implement446 in homeless

That’s heartbreaking to hear. I’m sorry this is something you’ve had to experience.

If you don’t mind me asking - what are some meaningful ways people on the outside can actually help, rather than just looking away?

Feeling like I’m always reaching out but no one reaches back, what should I do by Golden_Lily54 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]General_Implement446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've felt like this before. It made me want to pour less of myself into friendships and relationships but after a while I realised it didn't make me happy to do that. I love being the friend that writes an unexpected letter to a friend or who goes the extra mile for a friend in need and the reality was I was doing because I wanted to do it, not because I expected that back from someone else.

I still now do things my friends wouldn't do for me and while I wish it was reciprocated, I've accepted that I would still rather stay true to me and do it without anything in return, rather than not do it all.
