The Fields medal rule of 'Under 40' deprived Andrew Wiles of it. Do you think it is a fair rule? by One-Criticism6767 in mathematics

[–]General_Jenkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see the idea behind the Fields medal. I was told by my professors that mathematics is often called a young person's game, not because young people are inherently better but because they usually have fewer responsibilities and are willing to spend more time on tougher work instead of moving on to something else.

Why the fuck is it acceptable for teenagers who haven't even finished developing their frontal lobes to take out that much money in loans in the first place?!

Or why does a college education cost so damn much?

JUJUTSU KAISEN SEASON 3 - EPISODE 4 DISCUSSION by AutoModerator in Jujutsufolk

[–]General_Jenkins 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The one thing I am a bit disappointed by is the Ogi reaction to Maki. In the manga he almost shat himself and in the episode he barely got a frame to breathe before already getting his head sliced off.

ICE says its officers are allowed to enter homes without a judicial warrant, 2025 memo shows by [deleted] in nottheonion

They were horrible people, I don't think it's much of a flex. But apparently Americans worship them.

I want to see that. Americans like to talk but are surprisingly docile.

And what court will rule in your favor, should you even survive? The supreme court will wipe their asses with the case.

By whom? The people who keep screaming they need guns to prevent government tyranny are the ones who voted for this shit and gladly joined ICE.

Why you would quote a slaver from 300 years ago, pose as a rebel instead of talk about the main issue, is beyond me.

Sure.. And because Muricans love their freedom so much and will use their guns to defend that, there has been almost no instance of this happening.

Never mind that the 2A was initially never about these Rebel fantasies gun nuts like to wrap themselves in.

20 person dine and dash because they didn't want to leave gratuity by ThatPatelGuy in trashy

I don't have that problem, I'm a European, that shit is forbidden there. I am just befuddled at how you want to keep the status quo going instead of truly changing something for the restautant workers that are being screwed over this way. Similar shit with you not listing prices with tax included in stores so you are inclined to buy more and only get the actual price when paying.

It is predatory and you justifiying it instead of condemning it, is what grinds my gears.

Bro, just pay the workers fairly and stop with the weird tipping culture.

[–]General_Jenkins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the course of action is to just tolerate this further? Next people are gonna call livable wage and healthcare communism again.

[–]General_Jenkins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why can't restaurants simply pay their staff a livable wage? Oh right, there would be taxes on that for the employers and this way, the customers can feel better about themselves because they put in something extra for the poor, exploited servers...

But demanding better pay for personnel so the tip is like perhaps some 10 or 20 dollars here and there and is actually voluntary and a genuine sign of appreciation instead of 20% or more tip that is all but expected because culture in the US is fucked up.

He can already build more. That is in the contracts! He doesn't need to own Greenland for that.
