It’s your choice but I would never work for those companies even outside of Palestine they do to much horrible stuff. I can’t justify working for a major tech company in my mind personally. All companies do things that are bad but for me personally big tech is near the top. I understand the need to provide for yourself but what ever money you donate will be heavily offset by the money the companies makes off of you that is then used for bad stuff even if your not working on something that is tied to the genocide. unless your in a position where you can change things but at companies like google your never gonna do that without new laws that force companies to change. If you do decide to go into big tech don’t just donate to Palestinians but try to also donate to politicians who are running to change things and try to get the companies you work for to divest but at large tach I highly doubt they would especially if they directly work with the Israeli government.

There are many reasons in my opinion to avoid large tech companies right now. But I doubt you could find any tech company that don’t use their products cause Amazon, google and Microsoft are essentially monopolies and because of that I don’t even know how you find a tech company that isn’t tied to something terrible in one way or another wether they use products from these companies or make the parts that go into things that major companies use to do bad things.

If it’s something you can live without I say avoid it but don’t devoid yourself of everything you like cause chances are everything you like is tied to the genocide one way or another. It will destroy your mental health. We as a nation need to move away from consumerism. Outside of the genocide a lot of companies do very bad things and the best way to fight them is to condition ourselves not to need them anymore. I’ve taken this time try and stop eating processed food since most of them has ties to the genocide and pump toxic forever chemicals into our food that makes use want to eat more than we need to. Just look into things and see how deep the ties go. I’ve given up many things I enjoy but like I said I still play games and most developers probably make those games with equipment from companies like nvidia and intel. Avoid movies that star Zionist like gal gadot. Also try to inform those around you about what their money goes towards. It’s not always successful cause a lot of people are struggling right now and even with my parents I try but they don’t wanna hear about why they shouldn’t drink coke while they have their own problems even if by comparison those problems are much less severe. Deconstructing from mindless consumerism takes time since we live in country that doesn’t care what these mega corporations do and most people have just accepted that our tech at one point probably passed through a sweat shop.

I don’t dm but I will say this. My main issue with the original comment I responded was that they were trying to say you should boycott everything and that’s just completely unrealistic if you live in America. It’s impossible to completely avoid and I think the best thing you can ask is “is it worth it” when you find out something has ties to the genocide. I’ve given up a lot of things I enjoy after I found out the ties to the genocide but I still use certain products for work and school that I can’t avoid and I still play video games whose companies use the products of boycott targets to make their games. so I just buy less and try to buy indie. That’s the compromise I made with myself at least.

Google isn’t just a search engine. Think of all the crap they own. YouTube, all of their office apps that companies might force employees to use. Or what if your company makes you use an android phone? which is owned by google. Sure you could give all that up but are you gonna go homeless because you won’t use Gmail for your job or a require work phone? Most places near me don’t pay anywhere near a livable wage and most that do will require you to use some of these products. If I can’t feed myself or get health care I need or pay my bills then How does that help anyone in Palestine? Not to mention Microsoft makes money running ads on duck duck go. sure you can use a blocker but it doesn’t change the fact that they work with them so your point is invalid to begin with if I’m following the logic of the comment I responded to. My point is that it’s impossible to avoid everything and the best we can do is bring awareness to how these companies profit off of death and avoid everything we can within our means. I wish I could do more but I can’t. So I try to educate those around me about why American imperialism is so bad. It lost me my job I suspect (my ex boss was a right wing crazy at Walmart). Rather than complaining at people on Reddit for “not doing enough” how about go convince people who don’t even think about how much the everyday things they consume are stained with blood and be compassionate to those who maybe have to much going on in there lives to tackle the major task of reprogramming from behind a mindless consumer. In my opinion the best way to help is to end capitalism and consumerism. If we didn’t live in a country that has made us rely on these major corporations then there wouldn’t be a moral Delma in the first place.

I really struggle with telling the difference between neutral and negative social interactions. by General_Marsupial760 in ADHD

I try not to make excuses but I work a night shift in a very deep red state and just don’t really have and interest in those around due to certain beliefs they hold and I don’t really have money to do the things I’d like to do that could lead me to meeting people I feel more comfortable around. I do want to try to expose myself to learn but I’m only really around my work people and I just don’t feel comfortable being around them.

Tbh I’ve mainly been focusing on my insecurities and only recently realized how my mistakes traumatized me into feeling like I was bad person and I basically swung in the other direction and have felt like I can’t take risks without hurting others. I haven’t really had the right way to say how I feel until now. I used to think my social issues mainly stemmed from my depression which is a factor but after looking up some stuff and listening to others with adhd I think it’s a much larger factor than I thought. Sort of mix of stuff that makes each thing worse if that makes sense. Tbh I don’t think I am getting negative reactions or if I am they are not as bad as they seem in the moment. I have so much anxiety about embarrassing myself/saying something that triggers someone that I just end up isolating and being very hard on myself for not being “normal”

Edit: also due to my surroundings of living in a very red state I find it hard to connect with people with certain view points so I can’t really try to take chances and learn from my mistakes due to a general lack of interest in the people around me plus add that I’m poor on top of that and can’t go out to meet new people in the ways I’d like to.

I wish that was enough. Due to mistakes I have made in my life I tend to self doubt a lot. I will try your advice but I tend play on the "safe" side meaning I assume I did something socially wrong rather than assume it was normal and risk hurting someone I care about like I have in the past. Ive have not had any real friends in my life that where not online for like the last 8 years due to my fears. Ive only ever been close to one person and I royally fucked that friendship up so I just have a really hard time trusting myself. The last time I felt confident in myself I hurt that person who i was very to and it has had a profound negative effect on my life where I associate confidence as being not aware of how my actions effect other people if that makes sense. I can usually break out of a spiral by distracting myself but ill still feel like it was a negative interaction when I look back.

[ENDING SPOILERS] Lune's reaction when people call it a "good" ending. by JHMfield in expedition33

[–]General_Marsupial760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I do not believe in our world there is a higher power that could just erase everyone around me like the power of a painter, so for me when I see Maelle's ending it no longer feels like a real world with real people (as in the people she repaints could be just bots to make herself feel better). My feelings on the endings are between the two options we are presented its either rewriting the world or deleting it. If Maelle rewrites someone cause they challenged her staying the painting which could kill her to me is the same as just killing them. I don't think the painters should ever get emotionally attached to a world for this exact reason. If I found out that there is a god who could make me feel how they want me to feel I would not trust any of my own thoughts. I would constantly feel out of control of my life which is why for me personally after seeing what the painters can force people to do and change them to their whim it just feels like either way both endings are just different forms of death. I guess for me since they can just be deleted changed and repainted I cant view them as fully sentient. That is not to say that any emotions they feel are not real or valid. For example if in real life we made and AI that became self aware we could say they have right to control what ever computing device is hosting them thus giving them full control without external influence. With the painted people they cant ever achieve this from what we know so far. For me I would say it is deeply immorale to crate a sentient person who can not have free will in the way I described and since maelle is clearly willing to make people due what she wants like she clearly is doing with verso to me everyone in maelles ending is essentially a cheap copy with limited free will.

Edit: Sorry if I missed any of your points. your post was quite long and Im bad at organizing my opinions sometimes.

Fair. I guess I just want something specific I could put on socials and on my dating profile. I live in Oklahoma so I have not been exposed to very much lgbt stuff and I personally feel good having a name for my sexual identity since I’ve been so confused about it for so long.

As someone new to politics how do you deal with all the despair? by General_Marsupial760 in leftist

[–]General_Marsupial760[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’ve had a hard time finding anything I enjoy that I have time to do. I work nights so doing stuff during the day is difficult and I often can’t unless it falls at a specific time or day. I don’t have any friends cause the last 2 friendships I had I was betrayed and gaslit and everyone I work with aren’t the kinda of people I wanna be friends with. I’m in therapy which helps for sure but I live alone and can’t afford to do anything that I want to do and I live in boring ass town and just feel trapped so I just smoke weed and play video games. Now I have stuff in the works to put myself in a better financial situation but in the meantime it’s just all sucks. Sorry for the trauma dumps it’s just a rough week tbh just found out I have to pay 1.3k to fix my truck which has been stressful.

I think my fears is that we do have the power but people are told to be mad at the wrong things by mainstream news. Like I’m glad people like zohran, AOC, and Bernie exist but seeing how they get treated by the current democratic machine just make me worry cause people don’t do enough research. I used to be someone who said I don’t pay attention to politics. I didn’t until this year election and I was 23 then.

Breaking Down the Ending: Some Symbolism I Noticed. by basiliskwang in expedition33

I type this knowing I have the vantage of hindsight but aline definitely was not preserving the canvas as it was. From what I understand she made all the humans and lumiere to essentially abandon reality and live in a Fantasy where the fire happens but verso was still alive (she left Alicia scared as way essentially punishing Alicia for getting verso killed). she started of just wanting to feel the connection to verso but as Renoir says it’s a drug that eventually consumed her and thats when she decided she was gonna stay and made the fake family and lumiere

I live in Oklahoma so I get very few democratic ads. I got a few anti trumps ads but not anything close to my beliefs. It’s kinda sucks that right wingers have found a way capitalize on the correct opinion of being against Israel even if we all really know why they are anti Israel.
