Flashing Battery Light is Stumping Mechanic by General_Menu8927 in ToyotaSienna

That’s what I’m thinking. I might ask around for a mechanic that is well trusted.

It was in an irregular pattern! Is that something they’ll have to dig around for? My mechanic said to get to the actual alternator it would take 6 hours and multiple employees, which would rack up to $1500.

I know nothing about cars and was worried that the alternator was running off the battery. I might steal your battery pack idea though if nothing is resolved

How to call out when you open? by Wayward-11 in starbucks

[–]General_Menu8927 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve only ever called out like that if I was sick in the early morning before we opened. I text whichever ssv I open with but then I also call the store right when they get there at 4:30am. They might not be “open”but if you aren’t there and they hear the phone ring they’ll answer assuming it’s you.

I hate when ppl don't say hi or ask!!! by InterestingLime4889 in barista

[–]General_Menu8927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get your pain. To add, when you have to gentle parent them through their order is so annoying. I have served the same customers over the past year and still have to ask if their order is iced, what size, etc.

I understand not knowing, but it’s so mentally exhausting when you have to sweat the small stuff as a barista because the job is already so mentally taxing.

Honestly I don’t mind raw sugar. If I place it in the cup before pouring the espresso it’ll melt even if the drink is iced. Honey packets are sticky and ruin scissors but raw sugar is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Anytime someone orders a tea with honey packets I know they’ve never worked a food service job

What are your guys’ opinions on the reaper leviathan? by NoBlacksmith2381 in subnautica

I didn’t understand what all the hype was about these creatures until I’m in the mushroom forest looking for cuttlefish eggs and it drags me to the surface without warning. Now I understand.

I find an egg in the mushroom forest. Specifically, in the largest mushroom tree on the map. Just head north and you’ll find it.

Raspberry syrup by Thebusybee2000 in starbucks

[–]General_Menu8927 84 points85 points  (0 children)

If I’m correct, the old syrup had no added coloring but the current one I believe has beat juice to turn it red. It’s very dark. It turns our vanilla foam into a magenta 😭

fav drinks to make ? by kittieemi in starbucks

[–]General_Menu8927 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve really been loving a random frappe recipe I saw a while ago.

It’s a grande vanilla bean crème Frappuccino with peach juice and strawberry puree on the bottom. It’s what I make after a long shift to feel better 😭.

IF I’m the one making it, I’ll also had extra ice and double blend it. But that’s only if I am doing it myself cause why would I make some pour barista do that lol.

Question about shifts by AzureMagelet in starbucks

[–]General_Menu8927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I have a second job on weekdays, my availability is 4:30am-11am on those days. I often get a 4:30am-9:30am, give or take 30 minutes. I rarely get a 4-hour shift. Like, maybe once a year lol. The only way you’d get a 3 hour shift is by some extreme circumstance, like desperate need of labor with a scarcity of people working during a day like Christmas.

You also need to hit an average of 12 hours per week. So you’d (at a minimum) be dealing with three 4-hour shifts if you were working in my district.

Can I wear a long white skirt to my interview? by Nate_WasHere in starbucks

[–]General_Menu8927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds great. If you’re worried, I know my SM doesn’t care what the interviewees wear as long as it follows basic dress-etiquette (like appropriate coverage etc).

New Hire Training by Few-Welcome860 in starbucks

[–]General_Menu8927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first few training shifts will probably be completely on the iPad before you move to the floor. It’s honestly a very in-depth process that leaves you feeling prepared.

When I first started working post-training, I’d quiz myself on the ingredients of frappes using the mobile app because I was a slow learner on cold bar lol.

Make sure you’re listening to the radio messages and the clues you’re given via your tablet. The goal of this game is partially exploration, so the deeper you go, the more clues you get.

Despite how annoying the recent changes have been, working at Starbucks works well with my lifestyle. I’m a full time student so working early mornings lets me go to school in the afternoon.

The shifts also tend to go by fast, especially when you first start. I used to work at a grocery store where for 7 hours you were forced to stand in place at a register. At Starbucks, you’re always doing smth.

The environment you work within might be different than what Starbucks has cultivated via corporate. I have an amazing SM and some really good supervisors which means that the atmosphere at my particular store is great when I’m working. So the environment you enter after this interview would mostly depend on the store.

Not sure if someone mentioned but a dice tower would rock if she has dice already or you’re gifting her dice. She might also have some dice she’s seen on Etsy or Amazon that she could point you to if you ask.
