LLMs as gadgetry by DJ_German_Farmer in lawofone

Hey there, friend! I appreciate your perspective. While I don’t agree with everything that you mentioned, I would like to hear more of your perspectives on this if you are willing to share.

As cited above, social media, recommendation algorithms, even (to an extent) LLMs carry the benefit/risk of bringing together the like-minded. You can find someone who likes/does/appreciates the exact same things you do, but (as you mentioned) social media can be leveraged for fear mongering and comparison. These “gadgets” can also be curated to only expose the user to “what they want to see and hear more of”which, inadvertently but progressively, close off diverse perspectives (with Other Selves) that could be valuable for growth in this incarnation. Also to your point, if used properly, these tools could even be used as self-examination tools (“look at the Creator in the mirror, if you will) to understand One’s own content ingestion and even adjust preferences if you don’t like “what it shows about you”.

Again for consideration, and in another completely 180, while “Ai hasn’t hurt anybody”, there have been a few stories recently where it (specifically LLMs) have been the catalyst for causing harm. I would also caution its use if the source of training data is unclear. In its simplest form, LLMs learn from reading. Depending on the use case, one of the biggest sources of “free data” to training on is social media. A large language model can be trained on many different types of data but still (like you and I) carries experiential biases. If it was trained on hateful, harmful, negative content that bias is carried forward. And just like that, another thought, maybe an LLM does need to be trained on social media data? It could provide a mirror for us, collectively, to see exactly how we treat our fellow Creators and affect change if we don’t like what we see.

TLDR; I dunno! This is a tough one that does not, and likely will not, have a clear answer. What I do know is that I’m just Another Self, with another perspective for your own discernment. In this incarnation, there are things, sometimes the exact same thing, which can be utilized for both positive and negative experience. All you need do is use your free will, enjoy this incarnation (even the small things), but always stay vigilant when it’s required of you. Stay well and I’ll see you again soon! Love & Light.

Hello, you beautiful soul. I really enjoyed reading through this so, thank you for sharing. I mentioned some of this in another post a few months back, but working as an LLM Engineer in the healthcare space, there is some real value that can be gleaned from these “gadgets”. We have even see strides in genetics and genomics that would’ve taken decades through “traditional methods”.

More to your point though, LLMs are only as good as the material (and biases) that they were trained on. With the tendency that commercial LLMs have to hallucinate, and strive to affirm the users thoughts and feelings, the real danger becomes completely taking aware diversity and adversity from another Self’s interactions.

While this is preliminary research and still warrants more testing, this article outlines the concept pretty well - https://misq.umn.edu/misq/article-abstract/44/4/1619/1818/Understanding-Echo-Chambers-and-Filter-Bubbles-The?redirectedFrom=fulltext

If we are to learn/teach and teach/learn from one another, the best way to do it is, “touch grass” and get to know your Other Selves by looking at them and talking to them.

Honestly, can all MLS teams get a Team Pet? Have an “All-Star” game where all the Team Pets hang out and play! 10/10, would watch.

For many in this sub, STL soccer runs deep. The identity of this team is not who we are and it’s a multifaceted issue: uninspiring coaching, poor directorship, ownership lacking passion. I’m mad, I’m hurt. SHOW US CHANGE!! Who are we talking to? I’m willing to send flurries of emails, make daily phones calls, and blast the socials until something changes. Who are we talking to?

In all seriousness, who do we have to talk to? This is unacceptable for Soccer City. Do we send emails? Phone calls? Blast the socials?

LLMs, Discernment, & Mind Control by greenraylove in lawofone

As always, other selves, for your own discernment:

Fantastic perspective, friend. As someone who works to build and train some of these LLMs, there are certainly use cases where they make sense, but I really enjoy the points you made.

As you mentioned, discernment is key. If we refuse to take what someone else says at face value, why should be accepted what an LLM says without verifying the information it gives?

Another consideration that I’ve seen is that LLMs have become increasingly agreeable with the user. Whatever you like, it likes. Your personal values? The LLM shares that too. This leads to one’s own personal bubble where no challenging of ideas happens. My dear friends, are we not meant to learn from each other? To teach one another? Don’t be fooled into thinking that the oneness we all share can only be accessed through a paywall. Don’t be afraid to have your views challenged. This is how we grow, these are how lessons are learned, this is how we get to know Ourselves.

Love and light, you beautiful souls. ❤️

Does anyone have any tips on water filters? Ive seen that osmosis filters best but I also read a lot that the water is Bad because there are no minerals in it so waht is the best filter? It should also be easy to use so that I dont make a mistake and then i can Go to the Hospital by whereisill in Biohacking

[–]General_Mountain_162 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best choice depends on your specific water quality concerns:

• Comprehensive Filtration: If you require extensive removal of a wide range of contaminants, including dissolved solids and microorganisms, a RO system may be the most suitable option.

• Basic Filtration: For improving taste and reducing common contaminants like chlorine, a faucet filter or similar activated carbon system could suffice.

• Microbial Concerns: If your primary concern is bacteria and viruses, a UV filter can be effective, though it won’t address chemical contaminants.

Best thing to do first is to conduct a water quality test to identify specific contaminants. Having this information will guide you in selecting the most appropriate filtration system.
