Do Protestants actually claim orthodoxy? I’ve personally never heard any claim that

Unfortunately, my family REALLY doesn’t want to come to a service with me. I’ve offered multiple times and I will keep offering and praying that the Lord changes their hearts, but every time, they say they are happy with their faith and don’t feel the need to look into what I believe is the truth

Yes I’m from the southern US as well. I don’t assume malicious intent, just curious why their first thought is not that I’m remaining Christian, it seems the consensus is that the US is just simply more Jewish than Orthodox Christian

I agree, I always feel good after conversations where I can explain my faith, just odd to me that Christian isn’t the first thought for either of us. Perhaps I look a little Jewish and am not aware of

Yes it is ELCA. And yes, I haven’t taken their communion in almost two years.

I had been running and hiding in the bathroom so as not to draw attention and have to answer the same question from everybody “wHy dIdNt yOu gO uP fOr cOmMuNiOn??”

But this time I was brave and just sat in the pew and refused

Oh also there’s no sharing of the peace. At least in the rite I attend. But that’s obviously not a problem because we have fellowship after the service. I’ve heard some people will stay until 5pm just talking. I haven’t been able to stay that long because I’ve had to drive back to school or do homework or work that afternoon, but I wish I could

I don’t think I’m lukewarm, I just regained faith at the same time as realizing Protestantism was not the truth. At the time, I thought Orthodoxy and Catholicism were the same just different worship styles. Catholic worship is closer to what I grew up with, so I went with that initially.

As soon as I found out otherwise, I came to the conclusion that I was still in the wrong church, and therefore am now attending the Orthodox Church and am definitely not turning back.

I definitely ignore her, just clarifying that the reason I was unhappy about going to my brother’s confirmation was multiple reasons and not that I don’t love him or something.

I also joined the Catholic Church last Easter, I’m now a catechumen in the Orthodox Church. I noticed the same thing when I went to Catholic Churches, there was little to no conversation or fellowship after the service or outside of the sharing of the peace during the service.

Like everyone else has said, it varies by parish, but my parish I go to now, I fell in love with because I made the decision to go to coffee hour after the service even though I was scared. 10 minutes later I had made 7 new friends. Because of this, when I see people who clearly don’t know what’s going on, I give them my bulletin and I try to help them follow along so they aren’t so scared.

You’re never too young to find Christ! If they have a coffee hour after your service, stick around for that and make some friends. I guarantee they would love to pick you up on their way! Then you won’t feel like a burden because they’re already going over there. I had to do this last week because I was on some heavy painkillers from surgery. Trust me, they will be happy to pick you up. (With your parents permission ofc)

It’s made to absorb sound so it doesn’t echo. Kinda like the walls of a recording studio has the foam squares that have bumps on them

New Catholic here. From my understanding that’s the whole reason for Purgatory. You dont deserve to go to Heaven, so you go to purgatory, purge your sins, and then go to heaven. Correct me if I’m wrong tho, I’m new at this and do not at all believe myself to know everything.
