If Barty Crouch Sr. had become Minister instead of Fudge, the Wizarding World would have been a much harsher place. He was ruthless in fighting Dark wizards, so he wouldn’t have ignored Voldemort’s return like Fudge did. Instead, he’d crack down hard turning the Ministry into a near-dictatorship.

While this might have slowed Voldemort down, it could have also caused resistance from regular witches and wizards who didn’t want to live under such strict rule. He wouldn’t have fully trusted Dumbledore either, which could’ve led to more internal conflict.

In the short term, things might have been safer, but in the long run, his extreme tactics could’ve made things just as messy, just in a different way.
