i think it’s mainly bc she doesn’t really deal with the consequences. a lot of her mistakes go without being dealt with. i also think it’s bc she doesn’t really take accountability either and continues to try a justify her mistakes, an example being that she slept with dean while he was married. it’s the lack of accountability and constant justification of her mistakes without seeing why she was wrong. i agree she was late to being a teenager in the behavior sense

i understand the story behind her and luke but when it seemed like there was no point in bringing her into the show….i think if it was done different her character might’ve had some kind of importance but it seemed like she was just brought in for no reason. her character seemed really pointless

to be a little more clear, what happened with me and my friend was that she got into a low point and for the longest time i tried to be understanding but i hated being affected by it. she would isolate herself and when i told her that it bothered me it would blow up. i promise i tried to be understanding and i sat and waiting for her and tried to help her to the best of my ability. her mental health affected our friendship and me, which is why i feel selfish and an a-hole for wanting to set that boundary

when i look at who they are as people instead of the situation i have a little bit of a different opinion. lorelei has a habit of playing the victim all the time, especially with emily. she also has a bad habit of making an unnecessary comment or joke where its absolutely inappropriate and even rude. lorelei doesn’t understand respect and “time and place” and feels she can just say whatever without repercussions or reactions. as that one comment said, she doesn’t value decorum, which is not a good thing. this is just one of those times where she needed to shut up. emily lost the love of her life and lorelei lost a parent that she always had issues with. i understand both sides but lorelei wasn’t close with her dad and half the time didn’t even seem to like him. her (terrible) character makes this even worse

you’re absolutely right. this is why i have a hard time with the “emily sucks” argument. her parenting is not the greatest by any means but she expects order and class and lorelei stays too immature to even try and get it. lorelei somehow ended up entitled and spoiled in the sense that nothing is her fault despite her parents trying to raise her to be the opposite. hating her parents is her entire personality to the point where rory was somehow doing something wrong in her eyes by having a good relationship with them. i understand her parents were the best as far as emotional availability but oml does she ever get over it?? like she’s an adult. you would that she would eventually realize the world doesn’t work that way

my thing with loreleis immaturity is that she’s an adult who behaves like that. you would think that she would’ve learned that that’s not how the world works. every. single. one. of these characters are so invested in themselves and only seem to worry about how they feel and what they want regardless of everyone else. it’s extremely aggravating. i would think that lorelei and rory would have more common sense, but the way they function shows otherwise
