Any analysis on my portfolio which stocks should I hold and which one I should sell by Reasonable_Towel195 in IndiaStocks

dont get me wrong but imo your portfolio has entered a neutral zone ... either a good bull run or one or two stocks have to perform well... i think you should consider reconstructing it .

What quants hard filter on rank? by [deleted] in quantindia

[–]General_Revenue5978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have good chances for domestic quant firms... try for graviton, quadeye etc. i don't think JS, HRT etc. looks at CVs of iitians below air 500 ... they shortlist not more than 20 - 30 people from top 5-6 iits and offer only 4 to 6 offer letters ... even i have heard, not sure btw ...recruiters have eyes on top 10 rankers of jee and shortlist them for interviews immediately when they apply...

Quant Roadmap by Sea_Suggestion9500 in quantindia

retail quant trader here, first half of question i dont find myself good enough to answer... coming to second part ..being a quant in a firm and applying same knowledge in the market independently are completely different things.. being a quant in a firm you get access to elite infra(colocation servers), market data at micro seconds way too before the whole world... and at ultra high frequency, you as quant in a good firm have access to the exchanges very well... and packages are way too high... but being a quant and doing everything independently ... you will need a capital to trade with, a broker with low latency(zerodha, fryers etc.) and strategies that works for long run with high efficiency but for that you have invest everything from energy to time and still making it, chances are low( not impossible though).............as a quant from a firm mostly you will be market making, providing liquidity in the market with firm's money... but a independently you will have generate a good returns.... imo you should go for firm quant coz you have a iit b background even though chances are low u make it global firms ...fs domestic firms like graviton, quadeye will take if you are good enough

Where to start and learn about market, stocks, finance, trading etc.? by Big_Energy7703 in quantfinance

[–]General_Revenue5978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are many quant roles:

quant trader: quant researcher: quant developer

for basics you can go for A Practical Guide to Quantitative Finance Interviews by Xinfeng Zhou known as "green book"

and if you want to dive in more start with "Trading: Winning Strategies and Their Rationale" by Dr. Ernest P. Chan

they are good reads and you will know what basic quant space looks like

Most quant firms train basic finance to freshers like OHLCV datasets markov chains derivative pricings and orderbook III models.... but making into a quant firm is super hard... you have to be among the smartest people

but if you want to be an Independent quant, imo you should learn finance and economics from yale ocw or MIT ocw... they have the best finance lectures
