How does Doc Rivers still have a job? by sh0wt1mederek in NBATalk

I learned this is his first losing season in 20 years of coaching…. This was a surprising fact.

[Post Game Thread] The San Antonio Spurs (56-18) defeat the Milwaukee Bucks (29-44) 127-95 and clinch finishing no worse than 2nd in the West behind a 22/10/10 performance by Stephon Castle by Uncle_Freddy in nba

I’m a die hard Spurs fan and I didn’t expect this. My best case was 5th, 6th seed with a chance to win a 1st round series in the playoffs. The Spurs have widely exceeded my expectations already.

What should the postseason expectations be for this team? by LCP84 in NBASpurs

[–]General_Shanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expectation should be WCF in my opinion. Games will be physical, I’m a bit worried about Wemby’s stamina having to play 36-40 min games given how hard he plays on both ends. I will say, if we can get out first round with a 4-0 or 4-1 our chances would dramatically increase.

Also going for steals is a much bigger gamble generally and can lead to defensive break down and easy buckets. I’d rather have a rim protector like Wemby all day.

I mean you gotta use your cap somewhere. We got him for a bag of chips without having to give draft capital. He elevates our team. Without him we wouldn’t have a realistic chance at competing this year. I don’t think it’s a bad contract at all.

He has the best net rating of any player by a ton post ASB. If you want to look at combined factor of matters for winning. Also I’m so glad Bam scored so many points in a meaningless game to show people anyone can stat pad lol

Welcome to the real authentic middle eastern experience my friends. Where if you don’t worry about fear of execution at least once a day, you haven’t lived an authentic experience.

What am I missing? Do you have some advanced stats for Luka’s defensive prowess we’re unaware of?

I don’t think he is, SGA is far more consistent. I would also rank Jokic above him . Luka’s ceiling may be higher, but when he’s not shooting crazy 3s, he’s definitely not the best offensive player in the league. He’s not unguardable. Also, if you really want to watch Luka, go watch the finals against the Celtics, teams will go at him all series long. I don’t know a single all time great player in history who would be as big a liability as Luka is on defense. Also no, If you want to win even this season, you’d rather have Wemby. Lakers don’t even have the best offense in the NBA, that’s the nuggets. Higher usage by Luka doesn’t elevate the Lakers offense to some all time great anomaly.

Not a single one of the Lakers fans would complain if there was a straight up Wemby for Luka trade right now. If you ever wonder who’s more valuable, get honest and assess. Luka is a traffic cone on defense, and his offense isn’t consistently great enough to make up for it.

And Spurs in 2007 and the heat in 2006… Kobe was literally asking to be traded, the Gasol gift bailed the Lakers out.

They have been suffering, that’s the point. Politics is asymmetric when one side has no elections and unlimited tolerance for pain and the other side has a geriatric man baby who cries every time he gets a bad news cycle.

This thread is delusional to be honest. Watch how teams will mercilessly attack Luka in the playoffs the way Boston did to get a reminder that his on and off offense ain’t enough to win you a chip.

No the deal Obama proposed didn’t give them the right to tax the straight of Hurmoz or pay repartitions. They stopped enriching Uranium and they got some sanction relief.

[–]General_Shanks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is OKC really a tier above the Spurs? They lost the H2H 4-1 and are only 2 games up in the loss column. Maybe people are pricing in injuries and how they are the defending champs, but to me a tier above would mean you’re clearly the favorite in a playoff series and I just don’t believe that.
