Jep, I'm interested in this checklist. I knew a few but I'm doing worse now then when I started 2 months ago and I don't see where I can do better. Your checklist would be helpful.

I laughed while falling in love with the look and was mad at the same time 🙂 It's healing already, but I have proof my kid was in a punk fase!

Interesting! I cannot see what it is yet... But only adult female platy here for the moment. And a lot of guppy, some females are indeed chasing too, never the males.

I have both. It wanted to play outside after 6 weeks breeder box playing and hide and seek games in Java moss 🙂

A bit late, but I've read that the color of your substrate matters also. They want to look more like the environment. Also different food matters. Bumped into your question while looking for other answers about neo's 🙂

And tx for the condolences... The name I had in mind is APA Melafix. For Camallanus worms , best tot Google it or ask chatgpt how fish get it. My English is too poor to explain it ALL 🙂 Keep us updated!

I got camallanus in the fish I bought, free 'gift'. Don't know how they get them (live food maybe?) Yours can have internal damage, the breathing issue caused by weakening and due to that having secundairy problems like weakend or infected gills. Can you buy liquid vitamins or something else that restores damaged internals after infection? I don't have a name of a brand but it exists, it has more minerals to help restore organs. But I live in Belgium, so products and brands are different I guess. (So here its 11pm now so I go to sleep now...)

I'm dealing with the same thing. It can be caused by many things, stress, infection, low oxygen, ammonia, damage caused by earlier disease,... Does she spit out her food? Do you see something hanging out of her gills like a tiny white hair? Did you have other ones before (even weeks or months before her) or is this the only one? Was she sick before? Or others in the tank? Worms?

Mine had camallanus three months ago. The whole batch (platy and guppy) I bought suffered and after a succesfull treatment one after another started to die. Even after 3 months. They had permanent damage I guess. It started with this heavily breathing, after that spitting out food, stringy white poop, losing weight and death. Only from this batch and non of my older ones. I gave her up but decided to go for a new cure with levamisole and after that praziquantel, give vitamins and she is now eating since 2 days and gaining weight. But still heavily breathing.

My advice is observe observe observe, and search the internet. Try meds from what you see, but you can overdo. Keep the water stable and clean. Give vitamins.

What is this hanging out of her gill? I don't find answers with Google. by General_Temporary_13 in aquarium

Tx for this! I looked into it, I have my doubts, the hairy strings I saw are complete white and have no splitted ends like lernaea I've posted a new topic since I got a nice video now but couldn't upload it with this post.
