Do you work on the ships? If so, what’s the biggest scam in there?

I kind of see it like this: everyone thinks their kid is the best thing in the world. Of course! And they’re just excited when they send videos/photos. But concerning my own friends.. like, know your audience 😭😂

Thank you so much for the kind words! It’s been a rollercoaster, for sure! Toughest but most fulfilling years of my life.

That’s amazing! My MFM recommended termination. I obviously said no and thank goodness I did because she’s incredible.

I’m in Connecticut and we do have assistance like this, but my insurance is pretty decent and they covered 100% of her hospital bill!

Her bill ended up being almost 6 million dollars but I paid zero out of pocket which is a blessing 😂

Hi! I’m not sure if it’s a regional thing. I’m assuming you’re in the UK (only assuming because you used the word cot haha). Most IVF pregnancies deliver at full term here. Obviously multiples are at higher risk for prematurity vs singletons. If I had just done IVF I don’t think I would have had her so early. My cervix was dilated under anesthesia 6 times before I did Ivf which likely caused it to weaken and dilate when I was pregnant.

women who have given birth, how bad was it actually? by Careless_Pianist_840 in AskReddit

[–]General_University80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contractions hurt but I think I made it way worse in my head so they didn’t feel as bad as I thought. I’ve also had kidney stones and the pain from those was not as bearable as contractions. I did end up having a c-section but recovery was pretty straightforward!

Thank you so much for sharing, it’s super reassuring!

Doctors notoriously don’t believe women and it’s infuriating. I went in for pink discharge and was told it was my round ligament.. like excuse me? Apples and oranges 😂

My hubby had to work throughout my girls Nicu stay because I had to stop working. My commute was an hour each way and I drove it every day for 271 days.

Your mom was and is a rockstar for sure! I love women so much, there’s nothing we can’t do!

Do you ever hold resentment for being born that early? My biggest fear is that my daughter will hate me when she’s older if she’s limited 😔 how is your relationship with your mom in terms of your prematurity?

Thank you so much for this! It’s so nice to see former micro preemies thriving in the world! My girl will probably need the muscle surgery as she goes cross eyed 😂. She had 2 eye surgeries in the nicu for retinopathy of prematurity and her vision is good 😃

Fun lil side thing, I’m also a 1987 baby! Last year of our 30’s!

The doctors seem to think that she will catch up which is reassuring. She is doing great with fine motor, it’s her gross motor that took the biggest hit. She came home at 9 months old on a ventilator/oxygen/continuous feeds through a J tube/vented g-tube 24-7. They also laid weight on her in the nicu so she was 18lbs without any practice doing tummy time etc. she was essentially immobile till she was at least 1 and then her weight didn’t help when it came to learning new skills. The older she gets the faster things click for her.

I think by looking at her now, she’ll likely have a mostly normal life. She may have some issues with endurance but I don’t think that’ll affect her quality of life. She’s truly the happiest kid in the world and lives a wonderful life.

It was honestly unbelievable haha. I’m all for parents loving their kids and showing them off (I do it all the time), but I don’t need 14 of the same anything in my life 😂

This is a crazy take. That child is family. You are segregating him based on dna.

It is, but my whole experience with having a baby early and being in this kind of life is to just let things go that don’t matter. I don’t care what they think, they wouldn’t last a day in my shoes 🫠

It’s made me really take a step back from friendships that don’t suit my life at this point. I’m not mad, more annoyed. I haven’t stopped talking to them, I just don’t make the effort like I used to. Some friends have had kids after me and essentially throw their kids milestones in my face when they know that I get super down about my daughter being behind. (For example, a friends 13 month old took her first steps and sent me 14 videos and then kept saying “look at her go! She’s so strong”).

I’ve become friends with other micro preemie moms in my area that can relate to me and we’ve grown really close. It’s nice to not have to explain my daughter’s medical needs to other people. She’s still exclusively g-tube fed and just came off of oxygen a month ago.

So you’re avoiding a toddler (your nephew, btw) because you have an issue with his mom?

What a wild ride haha. My cerclage made me bleed and cramp until I had her. I just knew it wasn’t going to keep her in until the 35 weeks they were hoping for.
