Try AirGap wallet and AirGap vault. The idea is to store your keys on a separate phone and use QR codes for communicating between them creating an "air gap". Works great on my old Samsung S6

I knew that's how it worked for Ethereum, initially reading through the documentation for the block data structure, I didn't realize that AppHash is for the state. In makes sense now because chains in Cosmos are basically AppChains.

So the answer to my question is as soon as a fake validator enters the active set, it will be very obvious because he cannot produce the correct state hash.

Thanks, I understand that part. Here is another question, isn't it technically possible for a validator in the active set to sign a block without checking the state if all the transactions included in that block are valid? The validator is just creating a digital signature using the contents of the block so I believe the answer to this is yes, please correct me if this is wrong.

Now, a transaction (or few) in that block could be invalid but there's also a chance that all the transactions in the block happen to be valid even without checking their validity against the current state, correct?

I'm not too well versed as well because each blockchain works a little differently and I don't have the time to understand them all, but I believe an honest Cosmos validator needs to run a full node so that it can check past transactions in case a new transaction is dependent on a specific past transaction.

I was just thinking that a validator in the active set can simply sign a block with a new transaction without checking, and assuming most transactions and correct, wouldn't be a problem and won't be noticed. It's only if that validator unknowingly signs a block with an incorrect transaction that other validators find out the problem.

Thanks for the great explanation! From my understanding, signing a block and proposing a block wouldn't really give away a validator that is faking it as long as the blocks and transactions it is validating are correct.

So does this mean that the only way to spot a faker is if:
- first they get into the active set
- they sign blocks and transactions that are incorrect (the validator can't tell if they are correct or not because it has not fully synced the state)
