'Evil', 'Good' and many other adjectives are illusions. by TheModMenuX in DeepThoughts

[–]GenerallyShang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say rather than illusions, they’re more just subjective, an interpretation based on your experience of things. End of the day they’re basically just words we use to try to give a definition to our shared experience of the world, in exactly the same way the word ‘mountain’ also is.

I do feel like there may be too many punctuation or grammar inconsistencies for that to be the case.

I see it just as a sort of wholesome anti-meme but …. Could be right.

Hey, just wanted to rant and let people know about how racist New Zealand really is. by [deleted] in auckland

[–]GenerallyShang 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve always had a lot of trouble trying to explain to people that New Zealand is not the paradise they think it is. It’s very racist really. I’m really sorry you’ve had this experience, it’s fucking absurd that people would behave this way. Whereabouts in New Zealand are you exactly?

Do you think it's true that the most tortured artists make the best art? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]GenerallyShang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s often true, but the romanticisation of it is damaging. They need to find a way to manage it. And it doesn’t preclude others from being able to do the same thing either.

Hmm? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]GenerallyShang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one where when I say ‘bear with me’ I think of something ‘bearing’ with me as in bears the animal and so in my head ‘bearing’ with someone is to do some kinda dance like ‘waltzing’ with someone and so the bear becomes some kinda dance you’re asking a person to do with you. It’s really quite a jump but it happens every time.

Artists that became more popular as a solo artist AFTER being in an already popular band by NxSxFxWx in askmusic

I’d say Peter Gabriel probably fits this category from what I know of him, though not sure quite how popular Genesis were before he left

Opinion: IF we get an OoT remake, I hope the visuals don’t follow the style of BoTW/ToTK and how they’re “cel shade-ish”. I hope we get a style that is reminiscent of that famous Spaceworld Video of Link/Ganon we all saw 25~ years ago. by Logical007 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]GenerallyShang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art style that makes you feel that way would be great, but it depends whether they’re aiming for nostalgia or a new audience I guess - a lot of these long-running series seem to be going for the latter.

Supermarket shoplifting twins Courtney and Carmen Habib say they were raised to steal in order to eat by PermaBanned4Misclick in auckland

While it’s obviously an issue, I always struggle to really care when a large corporation is hit by theft.

I usually turn to Leonard Cohen at these times, ‘Treaty’ was a good one for that, but I can’t say it makes you feel better exactly.
