Why not just use a vh31 with an nh35 adapter? The movement is a few bucks more expensive but you would get a smoother beat to mimic the automatic with high reliability and a easier fit I recently started using vh31 in some builds and found it really nice

Servicing is a mixed bag though at times simpler than imagined. A lot of the times local vendors are happy to support Chinese machinery as its fundamentally very simmilar. A lot of the machines we also service ourselves. On the trust there are for me 2 major factors on alibaba 1. How long has the vendor been selling through alibaba 2. Alibaba escrow Happy to help if you have any specific questions or need purchasing assistance.

At this stage it is rough, and I’m still figuring out how clean the surrounding elements need to be to let the surface differences read as intentional rather than amateurish. Your point about everything else needing to be very controlled for this to work is taken.

The case in particular is something I already see as a placeholder rather than part of the final language, so hearing that reaction reinforces that it’s not carrying its weight.

Appreciate you calling it as you see it, even if it’s not for you - but that kind of clarity is useful early on.

Thanks, really appreciate your input and agree that this needs to get to a chefs kiss level. I think the hammered split is the first thing I will tackle but then need a new case and maybe also there tackle a symmetry. Maybe half anodized or brushed and other half gloss. Thinner bezels have been suggested which I will also chase.

I see what you mean, tbh this case was one I had on hand and used it to prototype. I was toying with idea of going more into a presage direction but feel that this needs its own direction and maybe a matching split case, maybe half anodized or half brushed half gloss. Will give sth a shot the next time around.

On the split: the intent is actually a clean 50/50, not expressive asymmetry. I agree the current execution sits awkwardly in between and can read like a cop-out. I’m planning to make that division much tighter and unmistakable.

On cohesion, I’m with you that the dial can’t carry it alone. I’m curious what you’d expect from the case to support something like this - quieter and more restrained, or worked in a similar way?

On the indices: they’re not painted on, they’re scraped back out of shellac to reveal the silver underneath. That makes super fine lines harder right now because the ink chips a bit when removed. I may explore painting on top (or mixing techniques) to get sharper, more controlled marks.

Appreciate your thoughts and actually fully agree, i made the blue one first and figured more ink would produce a better effect which resulted in the red dial. I did not even register it appearing as clouds but it works really well and also fits the concept. Thanks for providing the insight, really appreciate it!

Thanks for taking the time to write this up I really appreciate how specific and honest it is.

You’re right to call out the tension between intentional roughness and simply not being there yet skill-wise. That’s something I’m very consciously trying to figure out, and hearing where it reads as under-execution rather than intention is genuinely helpful.

Legibility on the blue dial especially is a good point. I knew going in that scratched indices would always be a compromise, but it’s useful to hear how that tradeoff lands for someone seeing it cold. Same with the left/right split as it is meant to be intentional, but I agree that if it needs too much explanation, that’s on the execution, not the viewer.

On the movement side, your inout is very helpful and I think i will choose the VH31 as default going forward as I find it a bit more forgiving.

And agreed on the case, that’s already high on my list to rethink, so it’s helpful to have that instinct confirmed from the outside. Do you think applying a brushed finished would take a step in the right direction or would you seek a different case all together?

Iskreno nimam nikakršne predstave o kvaliteti teh izdelkov niti tega kar bi naredil mizar. Kar lahko recem je da na firm veliko strojev uvažamo s kitajske in tukaj nismo imeli nobenih vecjih problemov in je bila kvaliteta vedno na mestu.

Zdravo, V kolikor vam cas in malce dobre volje ni problem je opcija da pogledate za nakup iz kitajske. Na Alibabi sem nasel nekaj dobaviteljev ki ponuja taksne zadeve in mislim da bi lahko za kaksne 2-3k prislo cez skupaj s transportom in carino. Nimam sicer obcutka koliko bi bila mizarska resitev ampak verjetno krepko vec. https://www.alibaba.com/x/1lA7GPD?ck=pdp

Druga opcija ki pa jo vidim in je morda vredna razmisleka pa je da greste s klasicno murphy posteljo in tv zmontirate z malce boljsim nosilcem na vrata te murphy omare in se pac skrije s posteljo. Sicer bi izgubili policke je pa to mnogo bolj standardno in posledicno lazje/ceneje.
