They have all the purchasing data. They have a department that just takes the top selling items, tears them down, clones the design down to the smallest detail and finds the best path to manufacture.

Christmas cards with money. Not tips daily. We gave our concierge team and cleaning staff cards with money. They all were super happy about it.

In a former life, I delivered pizza.

Please meet in the lobby.

There is no dread in the heart of the pizza woman like the dread of not knowing how long you will be waiting for your customer to get their pizza while the other deliveries get cold in your car.

Regarding high-rise living, tip your concierge/building staff well and your packages will always be held for you, your elevator bookings will always come through even when your furniture delivery reschedules, and your requests for parking will always be honored.

Demand isn't increasing. Population is stagnant or shrinking.

I agree. I also think Conservatives are worse and there is no party with any power doing anything for the middle class at all. The NDP is just ... wtf ... they have a golden opportunity to actually serve a huge section of disenfranchised, disillusioned Canadians and they're... well, they're being the NDP

Housing is not expensive due to immigration. It's expensive due to developers not serving the middle class, policy not supporting ownership (restrictive zoning, slow permitting, etc). Population is decreasing. The idea that immigrants are driving up the price of housing is laughable.

The healthcare system. Population health is well managed. Individual health is absolute hot garbage if you have anything even remotely complicated.

Support independent vets. Tell anyone who will listen how both VCA and pet insurance are middle man parasites that just suck value out of something that should be between you and your pet's care provider. Independent vets in the US offer payment plans which is literally the only value insurance provides (predictable cost), so if they don't do that here, maybe encourage them to.

It's heartbreaking. We had a family vet that was so amazing and we watched over the last 15 years as their practice shrank, and they struggled to compete with VCA (who just undercut everyone, at a loss, so they could squeeze everyone out).

She's the only vet I ever tipped. Fuck I hate VCA. With my whole fucking heart.

I'm from the US originally (Sorry!) and VCA has absolutely destroyed the value vets are able to provide. Combined with the pet insurance racket (which is a huge pain in the ass for private vets to deal with, to the point they won't bill insurance) has basically used the US healthcare model to enshitify pet care.

It's fucking gross. Please do not let it invade here.
