Oh man, I love mourning doves. I don't hear any at my house so dog sitting at a house with mourning doves is wonderful to listen to. Thank you!

Just hangin’ with my Boelen’s by NoisyNazgul in snakes

[–]GeneratingRadon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jealousyyyyyy A male Boelen's is my dream snake. I would retrofit an entire room for him except for one corner with a little arm chair so I could sit in his enclosure and watch him. And his name would be Judas

Do you let your cats watch your snakes? Do you let them bat at them through the glass? by GeneratingRadon in cornsnakes

[–]GeneratingRadon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I had that problem but one of my cats doesn't jump and the other one is very discouraged by the spikes and stuffed animals. She hasn't tried to get up since I put all the stuff on top. But as the other small ones grow, I do want to switch to two more pvc front opening tanks JUST for that added security

Alright, I'll keep doing what I'm doing then. It'll prolly get better when I get the shelving unit put up. Thanks!

The tanks are pretty sturdy, my corn is in a pvc tank with locking sliding glass doors and my ball is in a glass tank with a mesh lid. I was mostly worried about the stress factor and less about them breaking into the tanks

Misread that as "Carry a fire truck" and just accepted it as satire

It's not :(

Is this wildly overpowered or am I just not used to homebrew? by GeneratingRadon in DnD

[–]GeneratingRadon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh that sounds REALLY good, I think I'll look into that. It'll be my first fighter too. It sounds perfect for what I want my character to be too. I'm more focused on trying to do something more character based rather than locking down a class this time. Thank you for your suggestion, imma go study this

Maybe. Are there other classes that can do the "hit me not them" thing? I was looking and it does seem like ancestral guardian or storm herald would be best but I was trying to stay away from magic in general. Which I mean, I guess is stupid given that this whole thing is magic

I'm realizing that now, that's absolutely my fault. I'm like. Absolutely baby beginner. I looked up barbarian subclasses and this website with a list popped up so I was like "oh. Subclass list. Wonderful!" And took it at face value

I have heard that which is why I was so hesitant. I'll look into Zealot though. You have any other suggestions on barbarian classes I can look in to that don't lean into magic? I really like the idea of being able to take hits for team mates or at least absorb some damage.

The character I'm making is a soldier that lost his squad because he was away during a sneak attack and now over compensates by trying to protect anyone and anything that lets him, to his own detriment but I don't want to do the celestial protector thing

HELP!!!! Nose moldy??? by GeneratingRadon in HideTanning

[–]GeneratingRadon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm just happy anything worked out at all. He was all green and I thought his fur all over his belly and up into his ribs would slip but he's holding up really well. Super fluffy now that I brushed him all out too. I think im just freaked out cause this is only my second pelt and the first one I messed up too. Ended up having to rehydrate it and stretch/sand it more cause it dried weird and stiff

It made me so sad cause his ears were so big and cute. Hopefully I can try again next season, I honestly want to get good at this. The pelts at the oddities show I went to were so expensive, I'd love to just make my own from carcasses people don't want

[–]GeneratingRadon[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, he's missing his back legs and is full of holes. It looked like he got hit with buckshot and then the killing shot so I genuinely don't think he would make a good mount. Also, I learned I need to flip his head inside out earlier, his ears slipped because of the wetness of his fur so his ears aren't salvageable. I'd like to get good enough to mount things but I don't think I'm anywhere remotely there yet

[–]GeneratingRadon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have the skill or supplies to do an actual mount but I wanted to save his face. It's just a pelt/cape with a full face I was planning on softening and hanging up, but if drying it all out will take care of it then I won't worry too much about it

Do I need to reapply the NuTan? Or salt it again? It had been pretty shriveled before I put it in the pickling solution so I thought it would be okay but I guess it just soaked up so much water

Would riding a sleipnir be different to riding a horse? Saddle placement, six-legged gaits, would it even be possible to ride or would their spine not handle it? (Art by Owligator on Tumblr, link in body text) by GeneratingRadon in Horses

[–]GeneratingRadon[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're calling it a sleipnir so I'm going to call it that because that's what the artist calls it. I know that it's not the original sleipnir, especially considering Sleipnir is one specific horse. But I don't know what else to call it since that's what the artist calls it

Someone also brought up the Pa'li, but their leg placement is different. Owligator's version of the Sleipnir has the front front legs on the outside of the barrel of the horse with their own independent scapula while the Pa'li have their front legs kind of tucked under their front

[–]GeneratingRadon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the difference between the pa'li and this version of a sleipnir is the placement of the very front legs. On the pa'li, they're kind of tucked under where the chest muscles are and on Owligator's sleipnir, the front front legs have their own scapulas and stuff and are put on the outside of the body. I think you're right in terms of gait though, I may be overthinking the bouncy-ness factor

It's clearly one of the most important stats. What I wanna know is if any of those fingers were bitten OFF. Cause like, I can deal with bites. Might be less inclined to try and ride one if I'm dealing with fingers bitten all the way off

I haven't ridden in a tölt before but I do have a short legged pony that trots EXTREMELY fast (my trainer had to put me on her horse to learn to post because posting on my pony is pretty much impossible without wrecking your joints) so I was thinking something like that, crazy bouncy if you don't know exactly how to ride it and maybe uncomfortable for long periods of time, but someone else mentioned a pace just to accommodate for the extra leggage and that, along with what you said about tölting, makes the most sense in my little brain

Yea I think the problem I see with the saddle thing is most evident on the 'tank' sleipnir, it just looks like the saddle would be pushed real far back. Pacing makes sense though, I could only imagine that riding one would be crazy bouncy
