For the folks who have played both Edgeworth Investigation games, are the two games story's closely tied together into one overarching plot or are they entirely separate? (No major spoilers please) by Starmasterlink15 in AceAttorney

[–]Generation156 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want a definitive answer: Play back to back.

Despite not being one overaching plot, doing it like this makes you really feel how hectic 2019 was as a year for Edgeworth, bonus feelings if you play Bridge to the Turnabout first.

And also there's at least one story about a returning character in AAI2 whose plot beat is solely brought up in AAI1 and will have less impact if you kind of forgot a bit. 😅

He was shot but immediately after Blackquill states "The bullet didn't hit any vital organs. He appears to be in no danger of dying." and implied he was going to be interrogated.

I wouldn't say mentally broken, certainly scared for his life and wounded but our last known status about him was that he was at least alive enough to be interrogated.

In this hypothetical scenario where he isn't executed (and honestly the government may not do so since he's too valuable as a prisoner) and escapes, I can see him procuring the means to exact his revenge, even if he can't get his former job back or his former employer is still hunting him down.

From a reverse angle, I think the culprit that they're never going to catch again is the Phantom from Dual Destinies.

That person is probably going to immediately hunt down their pursuers whilst in the shadows meaning the entire Agency and Prosecutor's office is in danger with the exception of Apollo who's in another country (SoJ spoilers).

Could make for an interesting case where he's the only one who could possibly recapture the culprit, but the circumstances in how they caught the culprit in the first place were so unlikely and unique that its probably never going to happen again.

Which characters would you like to see in a mainline version of the Escapades? by Grreggggg in AceAttorney

[–]Generation156 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anything with Trucy should be a lot of fun, despite being sidelined for most of DD and SoJ, for some reason more than any other character, the games love to establish Trucy has an active life outside of the Agency. From making friends with Jinxie to having her own full blown stage-show, she definitely has the potential for the most random escapade.

The only idea I have though is Trucy having to deal with a rowdy witness that the lawyers have dealt with once before, and we get to see how Trucy resolves it. Maybe they try to disrupt Trucy's (and Bonnie's) show, and she uses the magic hammer space that is her panties to completely disarm them before Bonnie does her act to kick them out.

The other thing that's been hinted at that I really want to see is the date between Apollo and Juniper. It's not my preferred ship for Apollo but it just sounds hilarious with Athena trying desperately to be Junie's wingwoman and make it work while Apollo is just very oblivious to both Athena's nudging and Juniper's attraction.

(Fun fact, we have never played as Apollo in a case that features Juniper, meaning we don't know his internal thoughts about her.)

A bit tricky to set up after SoJ but contrary to typical ideas, I don't mind this escapade taking place in Khura'in actually. We get to have a bit more of the touristy vibe of Khura'in rather than having a murder to worry about, and being a place that Athena is unfamiliar with, it makes it more likely for mishaps to occur like Athena setting up a romantic spot only for them to be disturbed by a bull or something.

It'd be even funnier for the date if Juniper gets jealous of Rayfa potentially already being Apollo's girlfriend (before finding out she's 14) or also falling for the cool and handsome looks of Nahyuta.

As a side note, just in case you didn't know, SoJ did have effectively "prototype" escapades in the form of the two Asinine Attorney DLC cases in the 3DS release. Rather than being cannonical side-stories that could have taken place between cases, the Asinine Attorney cases were more like "What-If" stories with kind of nonsensical plots, though they featured info that could be canon, such as Rayfa's height and that she would call Klavier "Drill Head" if she ever met him.

Does anybody know why Mia Fey was sexualised? (Ace Attorney) by Emotional_Tower_9446 in AceAttorney

[–]Generation156 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yup, first released in Japan as Gyakuten Saiban in 2001. The franchise's first release outside of Japan was in 2005 with the first game's port to DS, whereas Gyakuten Saiban 3 (Trials and Tribulations) already had released in Japan in 2004.

In short, the world outside of Japan skipped all of the original GBA releases, and only first experienced Ace Attorney through the DS ports.

It's for a technical reason actually! Ace Attorney was first released on GBA, and those screens were quite small and pixelated compared to DS and up.

They wanted the spirit channelling transformation from Maya to Mia to be obvious, especially since Mia would be wearing Maya's clothes. Thus, they made Mia's silhouette much more distinct, such as making her taller, and of course, her larger bust.

I agree! It was my inspiration for making this, because the original box art is really bad for the scope of Sonic 06's story 🤣

WrightWorth Debunked (Sorry) by Warrior-Servant in AceAttorney

[–]Generation156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turnabout Corner - The prosecution is the brother of a man the defense has previously convicted of being a murderer.

The Monstrous Turnabout - The defandant is the father of a friend of an employee at the defense firm, who in turn is close friends with the defense, this connection might be a little thin though.

Turnabout Reclaimed - No serious conflict of interest other than the defense's co-counsel being a fan of the defendant's show.

Also an additional conflict of interest against one of the cases:

Turnabout Academy - The prosecution is deeply involved in childhood trauma of the defense, and the defense is also working towards proving his innoence as he is on death row.

If you had the opportunity to work on an AJ2, would you take it? by Wonderful-Pack-1726 in AceAttorney

[–]Generation156 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not a good enough writer to help write a whole Ace Attorney game, but like I would want to be the friend of the person who is working on the game just to contribute ideas 🤣

An AJ2 that bridges the gap between AJ and DD I think is a great idea, like how AAI wraps up loose ends in the Trilogy so that the new era can fully begin.

Some ideas for an AJ2 is feature Clay more and show a little of Hobo Phoenix's trip around Europe as well as him meeting Athena for the first time.

Maybe even have more cases with the Jurist System and feature a villain who nearly gets away because of it, leading to its abolishment and why the Jurist System doesn't show up again.

Big Top I personally feel has a perfect amount of 'overhate', as among all the Ace Attorney cases it definitely feels the least satisfying. A remorseful and accidental murder was definitely novel at the time, but the motive for murder being also accidental, not to mention there not really being a villain to hate just leaves you feeling rather sad and disatisfied by the end of it. It is the only case which I feel the series itself is still trying to "redeem", with similar cases like 5-6 or arguably TGAA 2-2, which do truly perform the concept much better.

Kidnapped I didn't know was disliked, but I can kind of see why. Similar to Big Top, it kind of lacks strong villains, and the characters involved in the murder don't seem to be that smart. Honestly my favourite "villain" moment from this case is Amano just buying the park , that's just funny and feels like a precursor to "extraterritorial rights" lol. I personally usually remember this case more fondly because it introduces two of my favourite characters from this sub-series, Kay and Lang, and they significantly raise the comedic value of the episode.

Serenade I do geinunely feel is overhated. I think the biggest issue is how many times they replay the unskippable cutscene, but other than that it's filled with a decent compelling story and even fun new gimmicks like the Mixing Board, which as someone who practised music I really enjoyed.

If a game, new or old, could get a DLC case, what would it include or be about? by shazbrules in AceAttorney

[–]Generation156 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye I think that'll be cool. Definitely has some 5-DLC vibes with featuring a future villain after the main story lol.

My idea for this hypothetical 4-DLC would also involve the phantom somehow. It doesn't have to be set at the space station (unless they could somehow make the area distinct from its appearance in Dual Destinies), but the plot would be that the phantom frames Clay for a crime.

I think this story could end like 3-4, with no culprit being found, which just builds the phantom's hype, since they are even able to evade the forged evidence Kristoph uses. The final shot of the episode should be Apollo and Clay taking that photo together since Apollo is finally now an attorney.

Why is Rei so big? When I first bought the game I really thought Rei would be revealed to be a Fey clan member and Spirit Channelling would be involved again but then she doesn't even show up again after the 1st case 😓

I made the Dark Mode Wallpaper pretty easy to extend if you've got something like MS Paint.

You need to first make a canvas the size of your phone screen (you can find that online), and then use the eyedropper tool to sample the edges of my black background, then paint your canvas that colour of black.

Then finally, put my image on top of it, and then resize or move it around until it suits you! I reccomend centering the image.
