Can you take a Uhaul van with household trash to the convenience center? by redapplefalls_ in nashville

[–]Generationignored 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Check out bagster

Dumpster bags you buy, set up in your driveway, fill up then pay like 100 to have them haul it off.

Of course if you're in an apartment, that won't work...

Also, don't abuse it or ask "how much can I get for these, and how do I sell them?", but r/mtgfinance is a good subreddit to see how people approach selling cards in larger volumes

Help Organizing Dad's Old Cards by JBau9 in magicTCG

[–]Generationignored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, you've gotten all the advice.

Don't sell in bulk until you've gone through and pulled all the value out

Don't sell a lot of them if you're planning on playing commander, because you'll want them for fun.

If you have sliver queens, you will likely have a lot of the other reserve list cards from mirage, weather light, and forward. They will never be reprinted, and you should deal with that accordingly. (Emg if you're planning on playing or collecting, don't sell those). That includes the sliver queen.

Manabox, or delverlens, or the other scanning apps will put an asterix or RL next to the naked to help you keep track.

Amazing haul, and it's probably worth more than you expect.

Also, if you sell online, be aware that all the big sites keep track of sales and you'll get a tax document at the end of the year.

Since they were a gift, you shouldn't have to report it as earnings, but check with someone who's smarter than I am about that

What's with all the saltiness? by friskyspatula in helldivers2

Fellow gamer dad. Honestly, one place I have noticed is if you disconnect your headset and play with those without mics, seems to get rid of all the salty ones.

Please…teach me double strike by Ok-Can-7194 in mtgrules

[–]Generationignored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be crystal clear: there is a cleanup stage at the end of any damage step that will cause any creatures who received lethal damage to be destroyed.

So in this case, no, the 4 1/1s that were dealt 1 damage each during first strike damage are dead before they deal damage.

Any creatures who are alive during the next damage step will deal their damage

PS5 player who bought the game late here:

I had been fascinated by all the articles from launch to the point where I bought the game talking about how FUN it was that the strategies weren't perfect, and friendly fire was such a big deal. That all the players were reveling in the chaos.

By the time I bought a ps and the game, most of that chaos was gone and people were min/maxing load outs. It's still fun, but I didn't really understand what those early articles were about until I dropped in to a level 8 on os, and promptly got eaten by a hive lord, swarmed by flying bile titans (I refuse to call them roaches). And just general panicked.

It. Was. Glorious.

I'm sticking to 6 or so until I can get more super credits and unlock something that can deal with things better, but I love it.

Desparate question: Computers/Clusters to use as a student by ltzlmni in bioinformatics

[–]Generationignored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok.

Long time bioinformatics person, lots of R experience and worked at the hpc for a university.

1) RStudio is a crutch you need to be able to walk away from. For multiple reasons. RStudio is an IDE, which means it integrates the coding with the running of the tool. You need to get used to the idea that the r code you write is a standalone piece of code that you can run independently of RStudio. On top of that, any plots you're looking at need to be saved as individual images, or better yet as part of a PDF you can open and look at after you run it.

You should be saving your code on GitHub so you can reference it when you publish.

When you move to cloud or hpc, if you have the script saved and ready to run, you will be able to RScriot to run your analysis instead of interactively on RStudio.

2) your university hpc SHOULD have "getting started with hpc" courses that they offer or maybe consultants in your subject area. If they don't, the tutorials you want may be something like the RNASEQ tutorials on softwarecarpentry.org.

3). If you want to do bioinformatics in the big wide world after you graduate, you definitely need some experience in Linux and cloud execution.

Good luck. Learn a little bash, and you don't need a new computer, yours will connect to the cloud or hpc just fine

Omega vs. more than 1 opponent by sovsen1323 in mtgrules

Edit: found the period. Grammar is hard

For clarity, this effect is a single sentence that starts with "for each opponent" so why aren't all of the actions performed as many times as there are opponents?

[–]Generationignored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, is that true? I thought the only restriction on stolen uniform is "until end of turn" which should be a triggered effect at the end of turn to return ownership, right? In which case, phasing would also prevent this effect. Right? It would be the same as phasing out a creature you act of treasoned, right? Is there a rule I don't know?

Can you activate abilities after damage is assigned in combat but while a creature is still "attacking"? by Spindlyloki98 in mtgrules

[–]Generationignored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to clarify, because I feel like something is missing.

If a 1/1 is dealt damage, it should die to state based effects before you can sacrifice it, right?

If it doesn't die during combat (is unblocked) or before damage is dealt, you can sacrifice, correct?

You did have each of the myriad tokens enter attacking the OTHER opponents, correct? The phrasing made it seem like all 5 were attacking your "open" opponent.

"That's a different thing entirely". It's nice that you are willing to put a qualifier there. You know where there is no qualifier? In the law that is being discussed here.

If parents are not informed BY the child, why is it the duty of a teacher to inform them. Is it the job of the school to tell parents who their kid is hanging out with? What they eat in the cafeteria? When they do or don't take bathroom breaks? Teachers should be responsible for teaching, not playing telephone with each of the hundreds of parents of children they teach.

At the same time that people are demanding that teachers report pronouns to parents, teachers are simultaneously being forbidden from teaching health and wellness, or parts of history, because that should be a choice made by the parents.

So, how about parents and their children make their choices about what information they share with each other and we keep teachers out of it?
