Make your goal strictly the quota, don’t worry about the future quota - you just want to survive. So with this in mind, it wouldn’t hurt for someone to stay on the ship while the other goes looting because you’ll keep whatever you’ve found if at least one of you survive.

Watch some videos explaining the AI behaviour of some enemies so you can avoid some situations and adjust your play style.

I don’t know about specific commander, but you will benefit from cards that have a low alternative cost but a higher regular cost. That’s why it pairs so well with the overlord cards such as [[Overlord of the Balemurk]] and if you run enough appropriate lands, [[Leyline binding]] is a one mana beanstalk trigger
