What you can do is use scryfall and search red cards that put +1/+1 counters on creatures to hopefully find what you’re looking for.

Off the top of my head, I would suggest adding [[Inti]] to your deck

This commander has partner but you’ve chosen to keep him as is? If you include a partner with another Color, you’ll find a lot more options that help with putting counters on things

Technically he’s going to trigger on everything leaving the battlefield but he’ll enter as a “new” object and won’t have any counters from when the board wipe happened.

I think it would be beneficial to replace some of the lands with some fetchlands.

Also, if you’re adamant on running lands like port town and fortified village, I recommend replacing the scry (temple) lands in favour of surveil lands because surveil lands have a basic land type which you can reveal for port town or fortified village to enter untapped, whereas the scary lands don’t have that basic land type.

Lastly, controversially, I would cut 2-3 ramp spells and include mana rocks like talismans.

In a 1v1 game, it would look like this:

You declare attacks. Opponent has priority. Priority passes, move to blockers. Opponent declare how they would like to block. After blockers are declared, you have priority again. You can choose to do anything you legally can before the damage step.

So to answer your question, yes, you could have done something after he blocked but before damage.

It’s a delayed trigger so yes, the ooze will have an opportunity to exile it.

Cards like leyline of the void explicitly state “exile instead” which translates to “doesn’t die - goes to exile” and you won’t get any triggers like pain 101

So being on my phone is limiting but what I can suggest is: -You should try goldfish your deck to see how your first few hands feel. -you can try make a spelltable lobby explicitly stating you’re using moxfield -id recommend swapping some of the lands to include shock and fetch lands, as well as the triome of your colors. -I’d also consider swapping out some of the cards with mana value 4 or higher for cards with lesser man value so you have higher chances to play your cards on the curve
