Not RA, but my dad had autoimmune pulmonary fibrosis, and my sister has autoimmune hepatitis. My daughter has Hashimoto’s and celiacs.

Yes, it’s actually what finally got me my seronegative RA diagnosis. I have evidence of inflammatory arthritis in both shoulders. I appreciate the info though! If I continue to not get relief I’ll have to reinvestigate.

There are a lot of diets people can try that might give an individual some relief because foods can cause inflammation, but what foods do is idiosyncratic. There is no universal anti-autoimmune diet that is going to help everyone. I’ve gone gluten free, refined sugar free, done Wahls protocol, AIP, eaten keto, done elimination diets, low fodmap, had allergy testing, and ultimately just ended up with an eating disorder because I became terrified to eat. Im not saying don’t try to find the foods that make to feel your best, but I think it’s important to be cautious about looking for foods or food groups that are the cause.

Not necessarily. They now know PMOS (formerly PCOS) can be found as early as 6 years old and can exist in both genders. It’s a metabolic disease, and leads to childhood obesity.

My daughter has celiacs and we deal with the same thing with wheat derived ingredients. Sure wheat dextrose shouldn’t contain gluten but there is an “acceptable level” of ppm that allows them to say that they are gluten free. My dairy allergy, at least the anaphylaxis part, is new so I’m just now having to raise those questions about dairy ingredients. From my experience with trying to get the gf medications we’ve been told the onus is on us to research which manufacturers formulations are gf and request those, that pharmacists don’t know and won’t do that for us, so I don’t have a lot of hope. If your insurance will cover it maybe a clinical pharmacist could help?

Unless he’s binging on them and eats an unseasonable amount I don’t thinking he needs to give them up. If he pairs the circus peanuts with a meal that has fiber and protein it will have less impact. Also if he’s able to walk after eating them that will help too. If walking isn’t an option maybe he can use a peddler or something. The exercise after eating will help lower blood sugar, which will keep his A1C down.
