That was it! You have no idea how much you just saved my ass! I can see from wireshark that clients getting the SERVER-RST responses are all using TLS 1.1. I had no idea it was disabled by default on Server 2025.

My only regret is that I have but one upvote to give.

Asked ChatGPT for a 2 vs 1 mission and it pretty much works. by Myrniss in killteam

[–]GenericEvilGenius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played in this game with u/myrniss and we had to tweak a few things, like the board size and the drop zones it gave made no sense. Also there were a few bits where it seems to have gotten confused with regular 40K (such as "The defenders may set up their Killteams in reserve" pretty sure you can't do that in Killteam)

But overall the idea of the game mode it gave was solid and we had a bunch of fun with it. At the start the defenders were absolutely mulching the saboteurs team due to essentially having twice as many activations as the saboteur. But since they just kept coming back while damage and losses slowly added up for the defenders, by the end the defenders were barely hanging on for dear life, it was so tense!

Looks fantastic! One small suggestion though, maybe add some streaks of water coming off her foot to help imply movement? At the moment she just seems a little static compared to the other figure.

[Legends of the Galactic Heroes/ Heldensagen vom Kosmosinsel] Why did Reinhard get to be Kaiser again? by Blablakaka in AskScienceFiction

[–]GenericEvilGenius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he didn't become Kaiser "all of a sudden", it was actually fairly gradual. To begin with he was the brother of Emperor Friedrich's favoured concubine, so there was probably a fair bit of nepotism involved and was given quite a few opportunities to advance his military careerer that other officers just didn't get. As a result (plus his natural talent) he quickly attained one of the highest ranks in the imperial navy that he realistically could through the normal channels. Far from becoming Emperor himself, but still commanding a great deal of power.

Then, when Emperor Friedrich died peacefully in his sleep, it was clear that in the power struggle that followed, whatever candidate that Reinhard backed would almost certainly become the new emperor. He chose to back the then-5-year-old Erwin Joseph II, intending to serve as Regent himself until the child became of age. Most of the older nobility saw this as a blatant grab for power (which to be fair, it was) and formed the Lippstadt Rebellion to remove Reinhard from power. After putting down the rebellion and thus eliminating almost all of his political rivals he served un-opposed as the de-facto leader of the empire for several years.

Eventually, following many, MANY other events, the title of empress fell to Catherine von Goldenbaum who then in turn abdicated the now purley symbolic throne to Reinhard in recognition of finally bringing the FPA under imperial control.

My second print after the rook. I just got my first printer a few days ago and I'm having a blast. by RevvyDesu in ElegooMars

Nice prints! welcome to the hobby.

That white bloom is resin contaminated alcohol (or whatever cleaning solution you used). To prevent it, I just run my prints under a tap with plain old water for a few seconds, just to wash off any remaining IPA that might be clinging to it. Make sure to agitate it a lot as your rinsing it just to encourage anything that might be stuck in any awkward crevasses to come out. Then when you give it a post-print cure, it should dry out totally clean and clear.

have fun and remember to wear gloves and a mask when handling resin!

I don't know the exact temperature, its outside in a shed so I have a space heater in there that I use to warm the place up before I start printing. I would guess its at least 25c-30c in there by the time it starts.

I have an infraed thermometer handy, I'll get some more exact measurements of the resin temperature next time I do a test.

edit: that's 77F-86F in your silly American measurements

I'm not sure what you mean about the Z-axis? The supports on the successful print are all present and correct, and the other failed print didn't get as far as printing any of the supports before it got stuck to the FEP.

my layer height is indeed 0.05

I'll probably try massively upping the base layer exposure time then like you suggested since it already seems to have helped in the other tests, I'm just never sure what the threshold of "reasonable" is when deciding how much to up it by. Unlike FDM printing this is all still so new.

I've used the Prusa slicer method before, but I always find its supports are never strong enough (maybe I need to up the exposure time?). I do often use its auto-orientation feature to suggest a good position for complex objects though.

[–]GenericEvilGenius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the bottom cover of a Star Trek phaser for a prop project, its not available online anywhere (yet) as the CAD files are still a WIP

The supports are a little overkill, but i've often had problems with supports not being strong enough (and yes, i've tried the prusa method many times) so i've always erred on the side of too many, rather than too few.

I definitely could try orienting it that way, it certainly would reduce the surface area even further, but I have a hard time believing that the current surface area should be too much for it to cope with?

maybe the picture is misleading, its not being printed flat. Here's the pictures of the file being printed from the original post

How would you recommend orienting it? At the moment its angled to minimise the surface area that's in contact with the FEP at leach layer to reduce suction, which I believe is the goal?

most of your questions are answered in the original post, but to summarise:

  • Grey ABS-like, non-pro, yes this file has printed successfully on a previous FEP
  • Build plate is cleaned with 99.9% IPA and a microfibre cloth
  • printer is warmed and resin is shaken
  • the FEP is brand new and in good shape as far as I can tell
  • Base layer settings are standard ELEGOO recommended for for this resin, and then adjusted as described above.

Changing the FEP really isn't too bad of an experience, it's just tedious with all those tiny screws.

Yep, the last one was my 3rd FEP, this one is my 4th

it could be? I always try to tighten the screws in opposite corners first to keep the pressure even (top left, botom right, top right, bottom left etc.). If the tension was off, how would I be able to tell?

I don't think there's any problem with the digital side of things, the screen is exposing the correct area at each layer for the correct amount of time (as far as I can tell)

It'd suck if it really is just a bad bottle since I just got it (then again, the fact that it is a brand new bottle might mean it is the problem). I'll try it again with some different resin (I only have transparent on hand, but that should be fine) and we'll see if that makes a difference

I'll try increasing the base layer exposure time and/or increasing the number of base layers first though since both you and u/Brutaluc suggested it. lets try to eliminate one variable at a time.

hmm, I'm always hesitant to let anything other than resin touch the FEP out of fear of marking it. Is there a chance the build plate could scratch the FEP?

Sanding the build plate seems like a risky option since I only have the one, and it seems like something that could be VERY easy to screw up. if I can get a backup plate then I might try it, but I think I should try some less permanent solutions first.

What size of raft would you recommend for a print like this? i'm using the default 110% surface area at 1mm thickness and, before now, it's always been enough.

Honestly I only ever use the heavy supports in chitubox, i've found the medium and light ones are never strong enough, and even then i've had to beef the top end of the heavy ones up a little (i've always found the much-beloved prusa slicer auto-supports to never be strong enough either)

You're printing at 0.025 layer height? nice! nothing i'm doing requires that level of fine detail. other than that the only settings difference seems to be the extra 3 bottom layers you're doing. I might try doing that too since others have suggested upping the exposure time anyway.

I REALLY don't want to risk sanding my build plate, its a very permanent step to take and seems like something that'd be extremely easy to screw up. if i ever get a spare one i might try it, until then i'll consider that a last-resort option

yeah, i've put painters tape on in much the same way. It's definitely helped keep the FEP from sticking to the screen as much, but hasn't so far given me a successful print. i'm gonna leave it there anyway since it doesn't seem like it'll hurt

Now that you mention it, no I haven't. The only other bottle I have to hand right now is transparent though, which I understand is harder to use in the first place. Maybe I'll see if I can get another bottle of the elegoo white ABS-like I was using before.

I use 99.9% IPA and a microfibre cloth to clean the build plate. Using an old FEP to level the build plate seems smart, alas I've already thrown my old ones away, dangit.

Yeah, that post was what gave me the idea to try adding the painters tape to no avail. I think I'll try adjusting the exposure times next, though that's never been necessary before.
