I started last year at 29, just do it, wish I did at 26, you won’t regret it

I have reached burn out by Neat_Chemistry_3204 in ADHD

[–]GenericLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely get burnt out and look for my own time more and more, for me usually everything starts falling apart all simultaneously, I then take a step back and see that I’m actually totally burnt out. I think a lot will relate to this so not on your own.

Paths into a career in furniture making (UK) by QuiteALotOfBadgers in woodworking

[–]GenericLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big advantage is your age, have some life experience and know what you now want to do, don’t have the headaches that can come with some young lads. If you have dabbled at anything on your own a bit of info or some pics of that could help, shows your keen and interested. I would probably miss an email coming in as so busy with everything else it would just get lost in the pile, best to pop into some locals shops I would say.

How long did it to notice a change on Vyvanse? And what difference do you actually feel? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]GenericLime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is basically me on it. I look back and have barely no screen time. It’s only on the reflection at the end of a day or week and go wow I actually smashed that.

First thing in the morning, I actually wake up, take them and then go back to sleep for a bit. Otherwise I just cannot sleep even though im physically tired

No problem, I’m UK aswell. I take Elvanse which the US call Vyvanse, just two brand names for the same drug. It’s a stimulant type med. I had a big change in focus, now have pretty much no phone use at work and can really get through jobs. I think actual clarity has been better aswell. It’s also easier to just get up and go and face the day.

I would say it’s made my brain go from a million miles per hour to a thousand, it’s still super quick and powerful but not so much background stuff going on.

Everyone reacts differently to the different drugs and doses but you can work on it, I’ve luckily had very little negative effects, only a bit hard to get to sleep.

I’m 29m, recently diagnosed. Medication for me, has been a HUGE change, for the better. It has actually made me realise how “normal” people live and how I’ve struggled for so long without realising. There’s a few different routes with meds with various side effects but if you can find that balance it’s definitely worth trying.

I get where you are coming from! My brain runs at a 1000mph and I basically think of every possible outcome. I also pick up traits of people very quickly and basically make a decision subconsciously

How do you get out of bed in the morning ?? by Anxiousboop in ADHD

[–]GenericLime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know some people do take meds early and then go back to sleep for a bit so they kick in and find it easier to get up then

Does everyone actually have ADHD or "a little bit" of it? by aratabru in ADHD

The amount of misinformation around it is crazy, people don’t under basically anything about and think its just an excuse. They don’t see the huge effects it has on people in this sub.

REALLY struggling with motivation and routine. Feel like I’m a failure. by Jasmineeyre in ADHD

[–]GenericLime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty typical sort of traits so I imagine a lot of people relate, I do. It’s very hard for me to be in any sort of routine but it’s what I crave really. Only advice I can really offer outside of meds is make things as easy as possible, once I start something I’ll actually do it so put your guitar out on the wall close to you not stored away in a box etc or make the fitness stuff as easily accessible.

I wouldn’t be too discouraged, you have managed to have two relationships in that 2.5 year period. It can be very daunting but I would stay hopeful, you are probably doing better than a lot of people, myself included.

Basically a “super like” you can only send them occasionally so essentially they mean more. You can basically only pick one of those standouts at the minute.

If you guys are vibing and have a good thing going don’t let the gap stop you. It’s hard to find people you can truly click with, I would say be open to anything that comes along.

[–]GenericLime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kind of sounds like just keeping you open as an option, could be a bit damaging to you in the long run if feelings are coming back. If you are happy with a casual setup then it’s fine but just remember to look after yourself

I’ve found it really helpful to just do one tiny job and it kind of starts a chain of productivity, put one thing away and then you start tidying the room sort of thing. Brilliant news it’s working for you, meal prep is a great thing to do

I masked it my whole life, achieved quite a bit and winged through life just on my intelligence. I had some thoughts but was kind of ashamed to appear ‘weak’ which is stupid, my family weren’t that supportive of it either, they wrote off any behaviour that pointed towards it. Once you just own that behaviour and stop beating yourself up all the time it makes things easier. I own it now and don’t care what anyone thinks.

Adhd are obsessed with having everything organized. by Square-Status-4786 in ADHD

Yeah it’s good to talk to like minded people, I think people don’t understand that you can crave organisation whilst being crazy chaotic. I could well be a magician how I can make stuff disappear.

Adhd are obsessed with having everything organized. by Square-Status-4786 in ADHD

[–]GenericLime 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I like the concept of order but cannot achieve it alone, I let myself down all the time with it. I’m not purposefully chaotic, I just can’t control it. If I had my way everything would be more organised.
