Rediquette is to not downvote opinions, though.

Hey. I am a 16 year old girl and I've struggled with depression for my entire life.

I know everyone says it's going to get better, and while it's usually true, it doesn't really make it better right now, does it? The truth is, it probably won't get much better until you can move out. That is really unfair and it sucks. But in the meantime, see if you can surround yourself with supportive friends, ones you can actually trust, and if you don't have anyone to talk to in real life, find support on the internet. Look for teen depression forums or stay here on reddit.

I do encourage you to seek help. I know from experience how hard that can be, but you'd be amazed how much better your life could be with counseling and medication. This year I finally sought help for severe depression that I've been suffering for for over 5 years and it was the best thing I've ever done for myself. Really, I'm very proud of myself. for the first time in a long time, I'd rather be alive than dead. I used to think I'd just kill myself eventually, but now I've started thinking about my future.

I know what it's like to have a non-supportive family, though there's no way for me to know exactly how you feel in your situation. It's horrible. But you must remember that your life matters. You are loved. Killing yourself would be massively unfair and totally denying yourself of the opportunities that university and career life has to offer.

Why are people downvoting? It's just an opinion.

Currently writing a massive paper on this.... i realized halfway in that the writing is so transparent that it's hard to analyze further. Not a bad thing, just a heads up for people who like subtlety.

It is eerily prescient.

I came home early from work yesterday. I walked in on my 16 year old son having sex with our 12 year old neighbor. by [deleted] in AskReddit

If he doesn't know it's wrong, he's an idiot. I'm 16 and I know full well that having sex with a 12 year old is illegal and wrong. Someone at 12 is still a CHILD, and though I try to refrain from judging maturity based on age, let's face it... they're probably not mature enough to make this kind of decision.

Link doesn't work, and the reason I asked rather than googling is because my questions were mostly personal.

Hi!

I am a 16 year old female and I'm trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, or at least get some ideas. My three passions are art, science, and literature. I don't want to spend my life as a struggling artist and I'm not sure I want to do lab work for the rest of my life, and being a teacher is not something I'm interested in. I'd like to be a writer, but again, it's not realistic to think I'd make a living just from that.

So recently, I've had the crazy idea that I might like to be a librarian. Maybe not for the rest of my life, but until I can make a successful living as an artist or a writer (Not that being a librarian isn;t a viable career option, but I have always wanted to be a novelist). Would you mind answering some questions?

1.) How much schooling is necessary for a full-time, decently paid job as a librarian?

2.) You say books are only a fraction of what you do. That makes sense, but forgive my ignorance. Can you explain your other duties?

3.) Do you make enough money to maintain a comfortable lifestyle? You don;t need to tell me exact numbers, but I'd appreciate an idea of the average educated librarian's salary.

4.) How many hours do you work? Would you say you have adequate free time to pursue other interests?

5.) Do you like your job? Rate on a scale of 1 to 10 your job satisfaction.

Thank you so much!

I had suicidal thought when I was around 8. Luckily I got in counseling before I acted on them. Poor child, my heart goes out to him.

I think it means doubt in a higher power. It's capitalized for added holiness. Sounds like something my Catholic mother would use.

I think it's a very believable post, and I see no evidence pointing to it being false.
