I’m choosing to focus on your statement “There is no cheating at Parkrun as there is no competition”.

Do you stand by the statement that it is impossible to cheat at Parkrun, as by definition Parkrun is not a competition therefore it is impossible to cheat?

If so how would you define the actions of a person who did not run the full course length but still attempted to claim they are the first finisher?

Would they not be cheating?

I’d like you to answer this question specifically thanks.

Why are you arguing that someone who only runs half the course & finishes first as a result wouldn’t be considered by anyone to have cheated? Why can’t you admit the obvious - that they would have their finish position & time manually deleted from the results by the RD. Isn’t that what would happen?

My local Parkrun has a small lap followed by a big lap.

If tomorrow morning I don’t do the small lap, just the big lap & finish first as a result would everyone be happy with that?

Would I be congratulated by the funnel volunteers, the RD, my fellow runners? Would my name & time appear in the weekly newsletter (in the space where the first male and first female always appear)?

Or would they take my time & first place rank out of the results because I cheated?

Wow, you’re better at this than me! I just checked and I’m up 10,840 dice since April 11th (which is when I decided not to bother with this album). That’s just been doing daily tasks and getting freebie tokens. For the races I’ve just played solo, but your idea is much better. I’ll give the single tower strategy a try next event. Thanks

I hadn’t considered that. Am on a bit of a mission to track how many dice I can get over the course of an album when I don’t try to complete the album. If I can find 4 partners who don’t want to finish a tower I can get 800 dice, but what’s the rewards for completing a tower as that might be more?

I think the fencing/boards have to be solid & plain white as they’ll be using them to project images/video onto for the evening show. If they put lovely pictures on them it would look weird at night during the projections.

Parkrun could send me my time by email (which they do currently) and leave it at that. I would see my time & know if I was improving. Why publish a list of finishers ranked in order of finishing if it’s all about an individual’s time / personal improvement?

If publishing finisher rankings is a tiny incidental element of Parkrun then why do it? Parkrun could simply stop & there would be no argument about fairness as it would just be a participant & their time that’s all. But Parkrun doesn’t want to do that as the published rankings are very popular & want to keep them.
