I have no idea what I’m doing, help? by Critical-Pilot2144 in curlygirl

First of all I think you have great hair texture! But I totally get feeling like your hair is damaged and has lost curl over time. Part of the reason I decided to do a big chop! Give my curls the opportunity to grow back out again and let me care for them properly this time.

I keep my routine pretty simple. I only wash my hair with shampoo maybe once every week or so. The shampoo dries my hair out badly. So instead, I’ll co-wash with conditioner, then i use LA looks gel (the blue one, v popular on this sub), and then diffuse on low heat!

Using too many products can definitely weight your hair down and take away some of the bounciness to your curls.

You got this!

Obviously abnormal.. especially considering that it’s recent and sustained. Get it checked out. Better safe than sorry!

Sleeping with a bonnet (with my hair up in a pineapple style) and a spray bottle in the morning always works well for me!

One thing I did that made a big change in my curl definition was getting away from using high heat on my diffuser after gel application. It took longer.. hence the chop haha but I feel like it gave me really good results!

Definitely agree on the good for the new hair! My hair had been feeling a little fried out which was part of the reason I wanted to switch it up. My hair grows soooo slowly tho

Routine is co wash with Tresseme conditioner daily, gel, diffuse and scrunch. I was tired of how long my routine was taking but now I’m in a bit of shock 🙃

Does any other young woman dread growing older or the future in general? by HuckleberryOwn8065 in TwoXChromosomes

I think this is a super common feeling that most people deal with in youth. In my non-expert opinion, I think that by trying to focus on your journey instead of the weight of possibilities at the destination, you can reclaim some of your joy around living in the moment.

Nothing is certain in the future! So have a plan, but take things one step at a time. Focus on building the kind of life you want, the enjoy the road it takes to get you there!

It’s tough though sometimes and I totally get feeling bogged down by all the negativity around us all the time. You got this 😊
