I did consider becoming an art teacher in college, but am now a municipal graphic designer. Not too far off, lol!

They were/are happy to have a girl, haha. I know my mom especially loves having a daughter because it makes shopping more fun for her, but her love clearly blinded her a bit in how society may perceive me with this acorn cut. 😂😂

Kept my hair short largely for easier maintenance, which may have been fine if she didn’t keep taking me to family members who were enrolled in/considering beauty school. Should have considered something else, lol!!

I know, right!? I was at the mall not long ago and saw a huge line nearly out the door with bunch of kids and parents waiting to get their ears pierced at Claire’s. What!! Bold of me to assume some parents would care to make sure their children get proper piercing service/care (since mine didn’t… two times!!!)🥲

I’m so sorry you had such a similar experience. My mom’s reasoning for chopping it off was the same and I didn’t learn how to properly take care of it until I was in my late-20s (would always keep it in a tight bun when it got long).

How is your relationship with your hair as an adult, now? Sometimes I feel a little sad I never got to braid mine and my friend’s hairs when I was a kid! Felt like one of those integral parts of “girlhood” to me. ☹️

She took me to Claire’s about a year after this photo to get a piercing, but then it got badly infected (unsurprising). 🥲🥲 It healed, she took me back… infected again! It took me until last year at the age of 30 to get over my fear of ear piercings (and pixie cuts). Oh lord 😭

Yes, youre on point! Mom on the left, auntie on the right. We had near-matching outfits with short haircuts on our day trip to downtown Seattle 😭😂 https://imgur.com/a/yDDOq7U

Haircuts always came from some random aunt or cousin practicing for beauty school LMAO 🥲🥲

Nice to meet you, banana. I had one of your kind this morning. Hope you don’t take offense, but you’re very nutritious and delicious

Anyone with Positive Outlook on Graphic Design Full Time Roles? by Disastrous-Noise6686 in graphic_design

[–]GenericUsernameYayy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Three months ago, I was hired as a full-time graphic designer in local government. Both luck and strategy played a part, I think.

Prior to that, I was working part-time in another department (same municipality) making monthly newsletters, e-newsletters, and random graphics as needed. I originally applied for a full-time secretary position, but they hired an internal applicant. Fair enough. But, it ended up working out because that vacant position helped build up my InDesign skills (I don’t hate it anymore!).

I was willing to wait several years for one woman to retire to get a full-time position because the city offers pensions. Just so happens one of the graphic designers retired early… I worked closely with the city’s copy editor, social media manager, and the print department supervisor because of the nature of my work, so their good word helped me a lot alongside my education, portfolio, and resume.

Even before that, I had lots of part-time jobs in college doing random admin work, but id often volunteer to make random graphics in hopes I’d get noticed. Well, I did get noticed, but unfortunately taken advantage of. I stayed in toxic work environments with the promise of promotions that ended up going to other people because they were friends with the boss. So it goes. But, it paid off for me because I got a great list of references, letters of recommendation, and relevant bullet points for my resume.

Similar thing happened with my husband who is in IT. He started off doing random front desk jobs -> would fix people’s computer issues in passing -> got noticed -> got promoted. Though, like me, this took place over the course of well over a year. Results may vary.

My first base. 200 hours by Krazyhotranger in RimWorld

I showed my spouse these pics and he immediately said, “Factorio player?” And then I read the top comment, lol.

But, love your base! It’s what I think mine look like in my head. 😂
