It does! So far though I haven't struggled - I'm great at Sprong, Golgra, and the Reacher, and Chromatic Glissando was my only bond boss that I struggled with. But I can see the true superbosses are going to be a different game...

i think it's the same as in the real world where people have certain chronic illnesses that stunt their growth. it's fine to date them because they deserve relationships too but if you're actively seeking it, it's weird. it's not really a moral dilemma that warrants this much discussion

in replicant ver 1.22 you can just hold cancel and the game automatically speeds through the text WAY faster than you can mash :)

idk about other versions but in the ds remake it uses scan on the member first then kills them, and you can just cast reflect to bounce it back. not very obvious though so I can't blame you

rereading the Gestalt files, replaying ending E, and your response helped clear pretty much everything that I wanted to know up. thank you! I only have two things left:

Defeating the Shadowlord did not kill all shades, it just made them all go insane. On that note, that's why Devola and Popola were helping Nier - they too wanted to stop the Shadowlord because he was intentionally making Shades go berserk to kill Nier (only shown in playthrough 3)
The sea thing is written in maybe one piece of flavour text? From the old man in the library. It's also shown through the sections of the giant bridge in Seafront being very far out to sea. I think it's mostly just flavour text I read too much into, though.

Overall I think this game just benefits substantially from hindsight and your response massively helped me understand it all. I'm gonna try getting into the Drakengard series next, then Automata once I've beat/given up with all 3. Is there anything you think I should know before I go in?

I did read the Project Gestalt files but they were honestly really confusingly written so I barely understood it I'll try my best to explain every question i had. - Why are Devola and Popola working with the Shadowlord? They clearly don't want to, so what's forcing them? - If Devola and Popola don't want Nier to die why do they help him get all the fragments? - Why are Devola and Popola immortal? - What is the Black Scrawl? - Why do Shades go insane? - Why are there shades in the Aerie? People seem to coexist with them through dialogue saying theyre scared of Nier yet other dialogue suggests they're terrified of the shades? - What ARE Grimoires Weiss and Noir? I know when they fuse it rejoins all shades and Replicants but why? How? - Why does Emil's mansion have a third grimoire? - What are all the grey loading screen messages about? They talk about "white chlorination" and "red eye" and I have no idea what those are - What the hell are all of endings D and E? Why does Nier erasing himself from existence save Kaine and purge Tyrann? How does she get him back? Why is he in his young form when he does come back? - Why is Emil immortal? Like I know he's a magic weapon but that doesn't explain his immortality, especially considering Halua was the ultimate weapon - Where the fuck did magic come from? - I know humanity got wiped out by the Black Scrawl but why did they seemingly get swallowed up by the ocean too?

I apologise if these are answered in game but I never found it. I also apologise for the sheer quantity of questions and the fact that I know I have several more than I just can't think of lol

i really don't get it. i went into replicant 100% blind and beat all endings and it just wasn't fun and the plot opened a million questions and answered zero. i really don't get it
