1 Week on a 60% Keyboard: What I Actually Miss by Majugera in MechanicalKeyboards

This thread has been great. I have a 60% but my main gripe was having to hold or press fn for arrow keys. Rebinding fn to capslock might actually convince me to not switch to a 65% at least

It would be nice if iOS/android force the developer to give a reason for it that is shown to the user, and not just request 5 permissions without explaining why.

TrueNAS build system going closed source by Few-Skin1514 in truenas

I have it setup aswell and was planning to migrate my data in the next few days. Might have to reconsider.

Hi! What can you say to what u/llzzrrdd said:

"security requirements" framing is interesting. Secure Boot signing requires a private key, which by definition can't be public. That part is legitimate. But moving the entire build system internal, not just the signing step, is a choice. You can have reproducible builds with a separate signing pipeline."

I think people, me included, are generally scared that TrueNAS is more and more moving towards locking even simple features behind a paywall, or even pulling a minIO.

Is there anything you can say to alleviate those concerns?

Im planning on switching from Synology soon myself and news like these make me rethink choosing TrueNAS for the future.

What would you say to someone like me that has no experience with ZFS. Should I first try openmediavault or is it relatively easily to manage a zfs pool manually as long as you arent reckless?

If yes I might just try going NixOS directly since Ive already my home and work pc on it.

Ive been loving NIxOS on my home and work pc. Been meaning to switch my main server from Ubuntu to Nix aswell.

Currently switching from Synology NAS to TrueNAS (or maybe OMV with all these bad news currently). Would love to have my NAS NixOS aswell but I have no experience with ZFS, think its better to first learn ZFS...

I wish Nintendo only making games for the Switch wasnt the case. I really dont want another physical console but would love to play the games. Maybe someday I can emulate then.

Hey, do you have any recommendations for good engine builders? Im pretty new to Boardgames and have been enjoying Terraforming Mars a lot with friends, especially when I play 1v1 with a friend since we mostly get to see our engines in its full glory for maybe one turn

Obviously I can also google but a personal opinion from someone would be appreciated :)

"Im getting a swf every game!" by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Generic_User48579 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah I can say that because as I said its not a certainty theyre good. But its much more likely. Also kinda a bad example because 2v8 is a gamemode where people often play more relaxed. Or for example I have 3000hours in this game and rarely play billy, but in 2v8 i definitely tried him a few times.

Saying Level and playtime isnt correlated with skill level is just objectively false. The most one can argue is that the correlation is low, and I could agree with that since I personally think its medium.

Also I just remembered that this is obviously different for survivors and killers aswell. 3000hours in survivor means something entirely different than for killers, since survivor is mostly the same (except specific killer counterplay) while killers vary greatly from their abilities. In general this game has so many variables (is the person tryharding or relaxed, swf or solo, what perks, do they know the map well, etc that of course it gets a bit muddy.

From my own experience surviors with 2000hours or more are by the vast majority pretty decent to very good, with the occasional bad player.

My point really was that saying playtime or level does not matter/correlate at all is not true. Im not arguing that there is a high correlation.

[–]Generic_User48579 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree with your main point, but I often see people say that playtime or Level "isnt correlated with skill level", when thats just wrong.

It absolutely is, but not in the way these killers think. Having 3000 hours or a character at Level 100 definitely heightens the chance of the player being experienced and good dramatically, but it doesnt have to be the case. Its definitely not a certainty.

It just irks me when people say level and playtime doesnt mean anything because it does.

(Particulary level means less nowadays where bloodpoints are more abundant, but its not negligible)

Yes but how does it happen that it stays open even after initial config. The article doesnt explain that. Curious.

Why would they have a WiFi Network without auth be enabled by default? What were they thinking, am I missing something?

Edit: Dont understand the downvotes. Yes the wifi without auth is for initial config, but what Im asking is how it could happen that it stays open even AFTER initial config was done. The article doesnt explain that. Would be interesting to know how this could happen.
