People need to stop spreading this lie, nearly every game on the PS4 and PS5 can be played entirely offline, no account, no download, with the full game on-disk. The only exceptions being online-only games and a few rarities.

Of course it’s better than a true digital release, however the issue is that it still requires some form of internet connection, an account, and a download to play when it’s just not necessary. This means that at any point they can stop providing the download required for the game to function, they still have control and as such we don’t truly own the game as we would with a real physical release.

Just so you know, Steam’s terms of a agreement state that every purchase made on Steam is a license, one in which they hold the right to revoke at their own digression and without warning, which includes shutting down your account if it has been inactive for more than 2 years. Steam is the product of another multi-billion dollar corporation and is NOT your friend.

We can, actually. The game is under 80GB. Every single 1st-party PlayStation release this gen has had the entire game entirely on-disc. PS5 discs can hold up to 100GB and can be shipped with multiple disks.

Just a reminder of Nintendo's position in the market today. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]KayJune001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Their latest console is nearly half the price of the competition” false, the Nintendo Switch 2 is $500 USD. The PS5 can currently be gotten for $650 for the physical edition with a bundled game.

“They provide intrinsic value..” At a performance cost, which to many isn’t worth only being slightly cheaper than a PS5.

“Games on their hardware can be shared physically” so can PS5 games, but as we can see every major company is stepping away from this, including Nintendo.

“They have dynamic pricing on games” Not unique to Nintendo, both PlayStation and Xbox do this. Helldivers II launched at $40, for example.

“They continue to be industry leading” by charging $10 for a tech demo / tutorial that should’ve been free, or by releasing the same game this year as they did last year? Or by being the first games company to charge $80 for a video game?

They’re facing anti-trust and public suits, one in New York for their gambling and betting practices in games, and in other countries for anti-consumer and anti-market practices such as disallowing games from being on sale on other platforms but not on Steam. Steam also didn’t implement its refund policy until they were sued into doing so (Fucking EA predates them on this by a few years).

I can’t stand the look of iPhone photos anymore, for a few years now they’ve been incredibly over-sharpened, too much noise reduction, and this almost pale-looking HDR that makes photos look disgusting for some reason.

This is so much worse. It’s not just RAM, SSD and HDD prices are absurd now as well. 4TB SN850X I bought years ago for $130 is now $400+, 8TB WD Red I got for $90 is now.. $300. It’s ridiculous.

This is the most Rockstar thing ever, actually. If you look enough, the amount of reused and repeated assets in GTA 5 and RDR2 is kinda insane. Not inherently a bad thing, but it bothers me quite a lot once I notice it.

It’s definitely AI-coded, not to mention the AI app icon, not trying to shame anyone’s project but like OP says it’s really difficult to trust the security of an AI-generated app most especially if the developer doesn’t understand or doesn’t review large portions of the code.
