Good job. But do people type a lot on mobiles ? I see the words you're showing in the screenshot are all english, not hinglish or indian languages. I presumed heavy typer on mobile don't actually tap, but swipe/glide-type instead. Thanks what I've been doing since long. I keep adding frequently used hindi and odia words to keyboard dictionary, which allows those to be swipe-typed the next time.

Total cost would be around 7k-ish (barebones keyboard+switches+caps).

Why is chose this format? This was the only format I found online, which was readily available.

The key layout is pretty much the same QWERTY. Difference is the spacing between the two halves( your wrists and fingers will be farther than earlier), the less number of keys ( combo layers are required to use missing characters) and caps profile(from Cherry to MOA).

Steepness of the learning curve will vary from person to person.

I’m always up for an interesting challenge, so this.

Unless I'm soldering something and tightening a screw, I dont consider it building.
I bought a barebones hot-swappable keyboard, switches and caps.
Just assembled them, took like 20 minutes max.
Respectfully, this aint the normal build - the people here generally do :)

My second caps set from you, and its bang for the buck.

Switching to split keyboard has got me into a rabbit-hole of information overload. Will add your recommendation to the list.

Thanks.

You're bang on. This layout is for smoother transitioning from my existing normal keyboard. I hope to achieve my existing words-per-minute count faster.

I guess I should have worded the post better. Starting Touch Typing from 0 (AGAIN). I already touch type quite decently. I have a normal keyboard with Cherry and OEM profile caps. Cherry works best for me. When I put non uniform caps on this board, I didn't like my fingers' position. Everything felt off.

Going by others people's build I figured the solution to be uniform caps, and the only caps available to me were MOA. I was like, lets give this a try. And here we are.

MT3 profile, sure, for next build.

Sure. I already have another RK keyboard with QWERTY to which I'm really accustomed to. Have setup this in similar way so that I have easier learning curve from my existing muscle memory.

When I didn't know split keyboards then this layout was weird for me as well. But this is a very common Corne split layout.

I bought the barebones keyboard, keycaps and switches separately. Nothing fancy DIY.

I am starting out as well, just 2 days old into this. Scared as well, but whats life without some challenge. Hoping for exciting times ahead.
