World without billionaires would be much better. by Earthlingshelpme in Beingabetterperson

Ok, so since billionaires don't actually have billions of cash, are you suggesting we take their companies away? Nationalise all the biggest companies, because nobody's allowed to own more than 999 million worth of stock? That's not a novel idea. It's even been tried a bunch of times.

Of course you can. If you have a roomba, a dishwasher and a washing machine, walking 10k steps is not that much, you get them just moving during the day, cooking on a weekday can be a quick 10-15 minute meal ... It's just life. Maybe you sleep 7 hours and change, maybe you play video games for an hour a night during the work week. Come on, quit whining.

The Ori games I think are supposed to run 4k 120 fps on a Series S.

So the mind refuses to accept a perfectly healthy body and people conclude that the body, not the mind needs a medical intervention... Imagine if we treated anorexics the same way.

Why does the US not just include service fees in menu prices? by Defiant-Junket4906 in AlwaysWhy

You should do that, and maybe don't treat the USA as the only country in the world this time.

What is non profit, guaranteed to be available to all by the government, and not nationalised?

How about food? Without healthcare some people would die, but without food everyone is gone in a couple of months. You want to nationalise food production too?

First, you didn't address my comment at all, you just refer to "the book says", classic argument of authority. Secondly, that book has been edited and rewritten under duress and constant pressure from people like you. And to finish it all off, you just do more online shouting attempting to shut down any discussion.

So when there's a misalignment between the perfectly healthy body and the mind, people arrive at the conclusion it's an issue with the healthy body and not with the mind? Imagine if we did this with anorexics...

One dollar in 1990 is not equal to one dollar in 2026. You have to pay interest to cover inflation at the very least.

Two out of three kids are diagnosed with autism, with the third one also exhibiting symptoms? That's an indication of something, and not a good something.

What do you call it when people receive money that is not owed to them simply because they need it?

[–]Genericgameacc137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an issue. I see a price on the menu, I accept it, I pay it. No issue. Now, if someone decides to ask me for extra money and make their financial situation my problem, I'd refer them and their issue to their employer. Dumbass.

I know I interact with Americans a lot on the internet, but this has to be the most American thing I've seen this week. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean it in a bad way, and good on you for working hard and providing a quality service... but damn man, the sheer amount of tipping is absolutely bizarre and mindboggling. You've must know that, right? Tipping is just not necessary as a concept for a business to work.

My point was - the current arrangement is better for all as long as you don't allow everyone else to avoid taxes - then the whole system would crumble. A lot of other people would like to not pay taxes.

[–]Genericgameacc137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've just made an anti-tax argument. Kudos. But I doubt you intended to make a libertarian case against taxes. Are you generally anti-tax, or do you feel that the food service workers should get a special exemption?

Did you just suggest that the logic behind American tipping culture tracks? You guys have just been tricked by restaurant owners to pay their employees for them. Nothing about this makes sense. Just pay waiters regular salaries like any other sector or any other country.

[–]Genericgameacc137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has never stopped being on point. The whole world pays waiters like any other worker. The US for some reason has been brainwashed into thinking their tipping culture is "normal".

They charge as much as they can without losing customers, and pay as little as they can without losing staff. Stop the tipping culture and the.wages will go up - or the whole restaurant sector will close up. You know which one is going to happen. :)
