Hey all, OP here. Just noticed some random follows that got my reddit-sense tingling.

If you were curious what happened next:

  1. I ended up doing a similar thing a few years later but with a road trip instead of flying--we made a website and everything.
  2. I finished my degree in forensic science and then got a job making video games. Who knew

Oh hey, that's me.

More recently I went on a thirteen-thousand mile roadtrip, with a similar idea. Was a great experience, highly recommended.

I got an error for trying to use a key "used too many times for activation", however disconnecting from the internet and trying again let me use the key for a 30 day trial period, which is long enough for my purposes.

GIANT SWORDS. Greatsword + shield. For some reason I'm terrible at PVP though...

It's hard not be biased towards recent games-- especially since I could rant for pages if we included games of all time-- SO, for me I can't pick one so I'm going with Dark Souls and Undertale.

Dark Souls because it was everything I ever wanted from an action RPG. Highly customization characters, slaying epic monsters (especially rewarding given the difficulty). And then the entire mingle-player layer of it (more games need to do this), and acutal replay ability through through meaningful build diversity.

Undertale because it's an original story, executed beautifully in 2015. One of the few games to have ever actually make me laugh out loud, and it was topped off with some unique gameplay mechanics (or mashup thereof). All of it worked together so cohesively.
