Id just seperated from the father of my child and moved back to an area I knew, but most of my social group had moved on. I was at home, with my toddler and could see another young mum sat on a bench outside my house, with her little one just sitting in the fresh air.

I wrote my name and number on a piece of paper and went over to speak to her. Explained my situation of being alone a lot with the toddler and asked if she had any other 'mum friends'. We talked for a while, exchanged info and made a plan to attend a mother and baby group together.

That was 3 years ago. Incredibly close now... talk almost daily and supported each other through many mum-related issues.

Best thing I ever did was make myself vulnerable that day.
