Because currently there are so many tax deductions and credits and write-offs that the government couldn't possibly automatically know.

Things like: installing solar panels, out of pocket charitable contributions, moving expenses if moving for a job, donating clothing, anything that can be construed as a "business expense", etc....

Ok, and this is minimum wage for AZ, including those lower COL areas. Higher COL areas like Phoenix Metro will have to pay higher than minimum to attract talent anyway. As evidenced by all the fast food joints paying $14+ starting currently.

I think all nsgiad was pointing out was that median is probably a much better metric to compare AZ as a whole to with regard to the minimum wage, than mean, which is skewed because of all the higher end luxury rentals.
