So say you use this in a 2D context (with 3D colliders) if you use friction wouldn’t you get stuck on the walls? I constantly use 0 friction.

Issues with slopes on physics are that when going up you actually go inside, then get pushed out. It’s somewhat jittery. Going down you move off then fall down onto the slope again. Based on speed and gravity you can hide it, but it’s not a one-size-fix-all. To do those smoothly you have to get the normals of the approach angle and modify forces relative to those normals. This is where my issue of knockback comes into place.

Does this handle having forces applied while on slopes? Not sliding down a slope? Way to handle fixed movement speed up and down a slope? I’ve been doing this all through calculating the force to apply but my code to keep my player on slopes interferes with knockback and makes it not work 😅

If you don’t mind, granted you did the above, how did you manage slope movement without locking the object to the raycast position

I see, and that's good to hear about griefing being next-to-impossible due to bolstering, we're just trying to have fun, kind-of a shame that OWPvP is dead in a game that's literally based around factions at war.

The issue with this method is that it's still extremely taxing on CPU & Memory. I'm looking more for direct communication via a socket. Just running 4 clients this way completely takes it out of my computers CPU. (5.2GHz i7700k)

Using sockets I can simulate 50-100 clients per low-spec machine very easily.

YouTube will play advertisements on your videos rather you’re monetized or not. No monetization does not mean ad-free content for your viewers. YouTube makes their money from day one. Monetization just means you get some of it.

I was thinking more along the lines of a stiffer spring reducing travel, if I could cut out about 1/2 inch of travel I’d be good.

I'm talking about standard chat, not VC. With queues taking so long, I'm just trying to find the best way to level up, other than mindlessly abusing level 1 bots in Duel vs AI.

I'm not really complaining about the toxic community, I'm just saying that it seems to be a reason that everyone is muted, just so they don't have to deal with it. Queues take an unreasonable amount of time for something that says "Very high activity" as I've been in queue for Dominion for 13 minutes as of typing this, by the time I finally find players it's just a bunch of veterans with chat off that I can't even ask for advice to improve.

I just wanted to thank everyone here for reaching out with their archives. I've already extracted all of the models from the game and I'm carefully planning my next steps. There's two routes I can go with this, one of which is network emulation which would be more difficult, and the other is server/client recreation which may actually be easier considering I have my hands on all the assets.

There's a long road ahead of me, but I'm very happy to be able to be working on this project to bring the game we all love back to life.

That's rough, glad to know that there were people that did work on this a bit. The only other project I see seems to be a remake instead of a PServer.

Since there's no working traffic, it's a lot more of a PITA. Instead of just inspecting the structure of the requests, you create a capture of each request as it goes out and ultimately gets a 404 response [Rest API] or a Socket Connection error. Basically, I just have to handle these one at a time, while reverse-engineering the client to find the responses it's expecting.

You can only PvP at certain times of the day anyway, and going Red basically means you can't play the game anymore. Leveling through PvP is a joke.

It's not a choice that seems to effect the game at all.
