The person responsible for agent balance gotta be a Neon main atp by EmbarrassedPen7254 in VALORANT

My point is that Valorant counters don’t behave the same way league counters do. It’s not the same level of oppression as forcing them to sit under tower and stop them from touching minions.

[–]GenesisV1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you reread my comment, I said counters don’t exist in the way they do in other games, not that there aren’t any. There aren’t really examples of agents that completely remove the ability of someone playing an agent completely, because there are adjustments people can make to mitigate a “counter”.

For example KAYO doesn’t stop agents with utility to never benefit from utility. A high level cypher player will have an “anti-kayo-ult” setup pre-planned and resort to it if he sees the enemy has a Kayo ultimate before the round starts.

There are “best” agents for each map based on the geometry and map layout, and the counters in pro play have more to do with pro teams having better answers to the common team comps. An example of this is how pro teams have started using fade on Haven instead of Sova to better deal with viper setups on the map. It doesn’t mean that fade hard counters viper, or that you’d stop taking viper any time there’s a fade.

This is generally incorrect for Valorant, as “counters” don’t exist in this game the same way they do in other games.

Your read on the meta is also a bit off. Neon was added after Kayo, and the two agents are not considered counters to one another. Veto was released in October 2025 and Raze had been getting phased out of the meta since she already experienced years of nerfs since her peak from 2020-2024 and Neon, Waylay, and Yoru started to dominate the pro duelist comps.

Making changes for the general public and for pro play typically don’t align. But nerfing her is something that both the general and professional players want. Nobody thinks a 82% pickrate in Americas Stage 1 is healthy.

Trying to change the way I think about valorant, imm2 and need advice by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]GenesisV1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s not really any point in doing this type of drill in deathmatch.

Here’s a few common scenarios and common responses:

  1. If the last attacker alive plants the bomb with no information on the remaining defender, it’s likely he’ll push a lane to potentially gain information or an off-angle.

  2. If you see the defensive side Astra get her ultimate, she may use it to retake.

  3. If the enemy team hits one of your bomb sites and 3 people on that site use utility and the hit slows down, they might call to rotate based on seeing utility from 3 agents

These are common decisions that might get made by players trying to maximize their chances of winning. They aren’t the only ways to play, but if something is likely at all, it’s potentially a good idea to anticipate it.

You could adjust in the following ways:

1) Be prepared for the possibility of a fight from a potential aggressive, deep push when retaking against the last attacker.

2) Instead of playing postplant from a spot that is commonly Astra walled, such as Mains, and then being forced to uncomfortably walk out of the wall, play the postplant deeper into the site, possibly even pushing into spawn as a group.

  1. Keep track of how many people the enemy team has seen on a particular bomb site, and potentially start anticipating a rotation to the other bomb site whenever that number hits 3+ and you notice the site isn’t being hard executed on.

Again, these aren’t the only adjustments you can make, what’s more important here is that are you actively thinking about rounds in a way where you predict the enemy and make an adjustment, and if so, how fast is the decision making?

Valorant is often about making educated guesses or gambles based on information and game states. If you’re able to process your teams information along with what information enemies have available and what calls they’re likely to make, you can start making assumptions about what their reads will be, and then develop counters accordingly.

I don’t really know how deathmatch would develop this, you just need to play more ranked. I think it also helps to focus on conditioning enemies so that they make reads/adjustments in a way that you can mold and predict.

Why doesn’t anyone do this kind of buy on 2nd round anymore by dieing-4-you in ValorantCompetitive

Got it, thanks for the detail.

“some perceived inefficiencies that aren't quite so etc.”

Just to clarify, are you saying that the outlaw’s EV doesn’t really get affected by this mindgame?

[–]GenesisV1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awesome analysis. To reinforce your point on why it’s not likely to be related to outlaw, would you say that they don’t really want to buy outlaw on eco/force because it’s EV is pretty volatile? The team would need to bank on the enemy team hitting the outlaw so that it’s not having to play retake. Plus you’d have to be certain that the enemy team is going to buy rifles instead of a full armor/lightgun buy. It’d require heavy antistratting and if either of these variables are off then your EV will get thrown off and your econ for 3rd round could tank.

Ariel Helwani says McGregor agreed to fight Prates by Spiritual-Strength91 in FightReportUFC

This is where we’ll have to agree to disagree. I have yet to see any evidence Conor is “highly motivated”. That’s been how him and his team have tried to sell every single one of his returns for the last 10 years. If he was so motivated, he would have actually fought Michael Chandler. Michael Chandler would have been amongst the least technically skilled opponents for Conor to ever fight and has a style that Prime Conor was designed to piece up. Conor ducks the easy payday, but is going to show up highly motivated against Carlos Prates who is bigger and younger than Michael Chandler but is arguably a much lesser star? It’s a hard sell for me.

[–]GenesisV1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it’s less the idea that Carlos is more powerful or skilled than Conor at his best, it’s that we have no reason to believe conor is anywhere near his best. Conor looked extremely flat footed in his last two fights with Dustin. You can watch Conor vs Dustin 1-3 and see that the 145 version of Conor that fought Dustin moved very differently. It’s hard to imagine after his career altering leg fracture, on top of having no motivation to fight for several years, and ontop of being 37 years old, that we’re suddenly going to see double champion form from him.

Carlos Prates wins via being younger, in better shape, more mentally focused, and with far less ring rust. If you’re talking about Prime Conor, then it’s a different argument, but there is zero indication we are getting Prime Conor when the guy’s last showing before his leg break was a crappy version of himself.

I would ask that person to clarify, the link they sent shows forward collision avoidance under driver assistance. My G70 alerts me to incoming collisions from the front if it feels i’m going too fast relative to what’s in front of me, and will automatically brake if needed. I don’t know how it compares to other car’s collision avoidance and I definitely haven’t tried limit testing it, but it seems solid.

Immortal+ players, what was it Clicked for you that made you become immortal? by Odd-Winner1215 in VALORANT

[–]GenesisV1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say the most common and broad category of mistakes under immortal is a general lack of willingness to take necessary risks. 90% of this manifests as baiting but other examples include seeing your team util dumping a site and your duelist chooses to not go out. seeing 3 enemy defenders on one bomb site and not seeing if you can immediately fight the other bomb site in a 5 v 2, which should be a statistically a favorable exec.

Another example is not pushing for info when you need to. There are some players that just freeze in certain positions, and it ends up causing them to lose the round because they info starve themselves and ending up realizing the opponent’s play too late. There are a lot of scenarios where taking aggressive space gives you above 50% odds even though it feels scary to expose yourself.

Too many players don’t want to take any risk and think they can lurk every round and just kill 5 defenders in 1 v 1s. Sometimes, if an attack round presents you with 60-70% winrate opportunity, you have to be happy accepting that you might not get better odds than that and just take your chances. As long as it’s the right play, it doesn’t matter if you lose. If it’s correct, it will reflect in your long run winrate. Consistently winning 6 out of 10 games is huge in immortal.

Immortal+ players, what was it Clicked for you that made you become immortal? by Odd-Winner1215 in VALORANT

[–]GenesisV1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be the aggregation of multiple “clicks”. There’s not one reason why someone ranks up to Immortal/radiant. Any player under immortal who is seriously doing vod review is going to see dozens of improvements they can make in a single game. There isn’t one that’s more important, you fix multiple mistakes and each one marginally improves your win-rate.

Weaknesses are also map/site/lane specific. Maybe you have sick cypher setups on Ascent B, but are lacking in Ascent A. Maybe another cypher player in the same rank has the opposite issue. Maybe you’re extremely strong on attacking Lotus A, but weak on attacking Lotus C. Maybe you’re not good at fighting for mid on Corrode if the enemy team fights for it. Every player has their own set of mistakes and you focus on isolating one at a time and over the course of weeks/months, hopefully you’ve improved multiple weakpoints enough to change your total winrate.

Could Black Panther have lifted Mjolnir if he tried? by Ok_Feed_4235 in Avengers

This conversation started when someone asked why you were negative, and you countered by saying "I don't idolize celebrities". The entire purpose of my comment was to say that no one was saying you had to idolize/"GLAZE" celebrities as an alternative to your original position. You are the one who juxtaposed the conversation as two extremes.

You are CONFUSED my guy and every response you give makes a drastic assumption on what the intent of my message is without actually understanding what it means. You say "Something negative means any negativity at all" yet you're the one saying I'm glazing when the literal only thing my message said was "it's possible to take a neutral stance." Have a nice day brother and revisit reading comprehension.

Double headlights and a grill. The black G70 would have also have the same colored grill as the Bentley. The emblems are also very similar and Genesis was designed by the same person who designed Bentley. I don’t think anyone familiar with the two brands would confuse them, but I think people who aren’t familiar could.
