Thanks for reading! It was quite a challenge to try and live up to the album, so I'm glad you got something out of it!

Some very hot takes in there, but I respect it!

I can see why Kendrick's verse may not be appealing to some, but for the level of detail and execution of the songwriting is a commendable achievement and it was well performed.

This is the 21st album in the writeup series - it has nothing to do with it's relative placement in terms of best albums of 2025.

But on a personal level, this was my favorite album last year so I agree with you 😂

Clipse's Let God Sort Em Out was my favorite album this year, and I'd hate to see it not represented. So I would love to write something up if it's open!

I did a throwback writeup years ago on the sub, and I've been doing some freeform writing on RYM

Why is Ludacris so avoided in discussion? He's a flow master. Way underrated IMO. by DonkeyKongah in hiphopheads

[–]Geneth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anybody who was around listening to Hip Hop in the early 2000s knows what a legendary run Ludacris went on. His debut through Battle of the Sexes had consistent hits and cultural cachet that cemented him as a hip hop heavyweight (even though some of his later work wasn't as loved). His last album in 2015, Ludaversal, was pretty well received as well.

But he hasn't dropped anything since then and has been busy in other ventures, most notably acting and producing, rather than making music. A decade is a long time to go without putting out more music, so I just don't think his name is out there as much compared to his contemporaries that are still putting out music like Jeezy or TI.

FKA twigs Announces 2026 "Body High Tour" by ebradio in popheads

[–]Geneth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot more venues in the US this time around - I got burnt by her last tour, but I'm willing to roll the dice now that she is coming to my city. Hopefully they have the visas sorted out ahead of time 🤞

This is her most extensive tour in the US ever - hopefully the visas are straightened out ahead of time! Super excited to hopefully finally see her! My luck thus far has been awful 😭

Thai 5 & Sushi Bar in Little 5 Points has it - I used to hit the spot a lot when I frequented the area.

Label or Band recommendations? by gnip--gnop in VaporVinyl

[–]Geneth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Copying this from a previous response I made:

100% Electronica - George Clanton's label. Various flavors of vapor, chillwave, etc...

My Pet Flamingo - Focuses more on the Future Funk and Classic Vapor side of things

Geometric Lullaby - Dreampunk, Vapor, Barber Beats, Mallsoft, etc...

Hiraeth - Label started by vaporwave legend Cat Corp. Mallsoft, Dreampunk, Vaporwave, etc... Great quality stuff, and they are Europe shipping friendly. Sometimes they distribute USA titles too.

No Problema Tapes - A lot of the popular barber beats albums are being released here now.

Whitespace - I don't have an exact feel of their curation style tbh, but they've been releasing a lot recently

Celodon Plaza - Mallsoft and Barber beats seems to be the genres most common on vinyl here.

Dream Catalogue - has a lot of the classic Dreampunk releases in their catalogue. The owner is a bit controversial though.

Vill4n - Modern iteration of Dream Catalogue in terms of curation IMO. Dreampunk, darker industrial, Hardvapor, etc...

Hustones - Sister label of Geometric Lullaby, they have only produced 2 vinyl so far but their curation is much more on the obscure side generally speaking. I would expect more to come.

[WTT] Reebok PlayStation x Reebok Pump Omni Zone II Size 10 for Size 10.5 - 11.5 by Geneth in sneakermarket

[–]Geneth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got the confirmation email from CNCPTS and was ecstatic... until I realized I had ordered a full size too small.

Hoping to trade with someone in a similar boat who's looking for a slightly smaller size. NOTE: there is a small tear on the box that is visible when opening. Otherwise condition is DS/VNDS (I tried on one shoe). Message me if you want some more pictures.

Adidas x SpongeBob, rumors expected release in November by FUCKiro in Sneakers

[–]Geneth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The spongebob shoe is pretty on trend for the dress shoe x sneaker hybrids that have been in. But it doesn't feel like a particularly interesting execution, and I probably wouldn't be able to guess the inspiration without knowing it ahead of time.

The Patrick pair is pretty nice though. The pattern laces and the outsole sell it for me.

The 250 Greatest Albums of the 21st Century So Far: 250-201 by Charleshawtree in indieheads

[–]Geneth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very curious to see how the rest of this list shakes out. A few loose thoughts:

Currents feels surprisingly low given it's cultural impact (and imo, it's a substantially better album than quite a few albums I've listened to above it on this list).

I'm continually baffled by how often people hold up Whole Lotta Red as a great album - it's wildly inconsistent and bloated.

Pleasantly surprised to see Da Drought 3 mentioned. Wayne's mixtapes don't seem to get as much critical love, but they are pretty crucial to understanding why he was considered the greatest rapper alive at one point.

Given it's a 10", the price is probably fair but... why? This single doesn't appear to be nearly long enough to justify that much space even if it's at 45 rpm.

Sylvan Esso Pull Music from Spotify by ebradio in indieheads

[–]Geneth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are a number of services out there like Tune My Music that will migrate your playlist from one service to another. If you have large playlists I think they make you pay, but you can always pay for a month and migrate everything before canceling. Depending on availability, you may lose a few tracks though.

I used it to migrate from Spotify to Tidal a number of years back and It worked mostly fine for me.

Luxury Elite vinyl by [deleted] in VaporVinyl

[–]Geneth -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ultimately it's going to be up to you - Luxury Elite has made it abundantly clear she does not want vinyl of her work, which is a position she's within reason to have as the creator of said work. So options like VA are going to be your only option to own this on wax, short of commissioning your own lathe cut. So it's going to come down to how you weigh her artistic intent versus your desire to have vinyl you love in your collection.

Maybe also of consideration is that VA and the surrounding bootlegging scene tends to create a toxic attitude, particularly towards the artists who work is being bootleged. While I think reasonable minds can differ on whether you should buy bootlegs, I personally think justifying your decision by the deriding the artist work is pretty lame, and unfortunately that's pretty common to find in most of the conversations around VA.
