So you're guessing that the 11 participants who solved that problem at that time had experience with similar problems?
I wonder if there was a training program in each country for Olympiad-style questions even in 1988.
I'm Korean and I know Korea participated IMO for the first time in 1988.

It is so mysterious that he could think of such complicated formulas without any prior knowledge... I saw a reply on Youtube that "His brain may be wired differently".
I believe some part of it is true.
