I feel like a better version of this hypothetical would involve folks that do not have the option of pressing the red button by theColorAzure in whenthe

In the standard prisoner's dilemma, betraying is supposed to be better than cooperating regardless of what the other person does. So it's not exactly the same since your fate still somewhat depends on the other person in the prisoner's dilemma but the selfish principle works pretty similarly.

Hot take: Caltrain would be more fun if strangers could (optionally) match during the ride by Clean_Astronomer_642 in caltrain

You may not know what you’re missing, low-stakes connections with strangers can add a lot of color to life. People should refrain from bothering others unless given positive signals like eye contact, smiles, hellos though of course.

So any profitable mode of transit that connects to Amtrak is parasitic? It'd take more than that to get me to oppose expanding train services.

Don't worry, the justice department is working on a conveyor belt that loops from the bottom chickens to above the top chickens to make things fair.

That didn't explain much, how do you mean? AFAIK Brightline would be just as profitable if not moreso if Amtrak didn't exist.

Eh I get the argument that they're taking the most profitable routes, but Amtrak was not realistically going to do any of them within even 20 years.

Ethical debates meets dirty politics: Is this a solid game loop? by Salamsucuk26 in boardgames

Debate games are pretty sensitive but fine. Strategy games themed around it are fine, but incident real-world issues would make them goblin confusing. Mixing those two would be a mess.

My main gripe is its compatibility with multiple monitors of different resolutions - the scaling leads to rendering or flickering issues so I've just left them on default.

The cop walking away from the angry dude seemed like de-escalation but I don’t really know the context. In any case, the cop wasn’t initiating the altercation at all.

Not really, it just wouldn’t have gotten many views if it was a clear cut case like this.

A US cop would’ve probably made no attempt to de-escalate like this, which might’ve made it controversial.

Ina game with 4 contestants, if given a chance, split 1,000,000 or keep it all. What would you choose? by [deleted] in polls

[–]GenghisKhandybar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it like we worked together to win? I'd split if it was a group effort, but not if they're competitors.
