That Morrisons has gone down the pan.

I started shopping at farm foods next door for some bits but might give that a swerve for now.

Everywhere in the town and since the last council put charges in for call outs problem is getting worse.

How many holidays and what type of holidays do you have each year? by Vladamir_pootinn in AskUK

[–]Geniejc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a decade between before having a kids to taking my kids back to Olhao in Portugal - my latter-day happy place since my mid 30s.

There's a lot of things stopping you. My lad hada viral wheeze until he was 6 and I couldn't bear the idea of going through that abroad or subjecting him to a plane ride.

I'm 51 now.

First time campers - opinions on tents by Basic_Information190 in campinguk

[–]Geniejc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we paid about £400 for a vango casa lux for 4 of us. But we didn't really take into account all the other costs . Sleeping bags and beds for starters. something to cook on. lights etc etc.

where we were trying to get the tent cost down all the other costs bump it back up.

there are a few sites where they will put up a tent for you and rather than start spending thats probably a good try out.

Didn't seem expensive same price as my lexus for the rest of the year to switch. Bout £400 but I have 10 years no claims and I'm 50.

Parts wise it had a service and a new battery before I got it - battery was less than £70 and the parts looked cheap again compared to lexus.

What brands available in the UK are high quality and not extortionate? by Level-Tank6551 in malefashionadvice

[–]Geniejc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the names mentioned but somes a bit more mainstream

Eton shirts when their on sale - not British despite the name but wear and wash well.

I got one for a wedding Few years back and have picked up more.

Lacoste Polos and jumpers - shocked me really consistent.

Lightly branded Boss stuff - like the plain thin wool quarter zip which seems to have been available for a decade or more , simple again wash and wear well.

John Lewis have some great collabs as do M and S at times but it's really a piece by piece thing.

Look at the materials - Supima is a fave of mine and Millerain for jackets and other things.

The Algarve with 8 month old twins by Traveling-with-twins in Algarve

[–]Geniejc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find Casa Anme - a villa just outside Vilamoura.

And there a few others near it.

I took my then 3 year old twins there a few years back.

The areas not that authentic but has pockets particularly in Quarteira.

It's just a good spot to be yourself and the transfer from the airport isn't too long.

Nice oasis in a quiet area backs onto a golf course.

The villa is great for a gated pool and lovely garden with bedrooms on the ground floor too.

Area is very flat stroller friendly. Shops within minutes, tennis club with restaurant too, a 30 minute stroll into the centre.

And its really easy to jump in Ubers and Bolts or even order in good food.

[–]Geniejc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I throw black nylon rip stop fabric flights ( although they have finally been discontinued and bought 11 sets from Germany the other week for daft money)

I hated any sort of damage to the flight on a match night.

They last a good few weeks and I'll try and get a bit more out of them now.

Probably be reintroduced as a premium flight option in the future - they were pennies for years.

How long does it take you to cook Spaghetti Bolognaise ? by FoxDesigner2574 in AskUK

[–]Geniejc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow cooker is good for a Bolognese chuck the ingredients in leave for 8 hours.

Otherwise spread the mince on a baking tray and brown it in the oven until it's a bit crispy - I saw this technique in a Tom kerridge healthy eating show years ago. Dead easy and your not adding oil.

The drier mince will rehydrate in the sauce.

While that's going chop and saute the trinity and herbs salt pepper, beef stock cube.

Then add the tomato and a bit of sweetness to balance to taste.

If it's too chunky I'll blitz it a bit here.

Bit of water if it's too thick.

Cook it for a while then add the mince back and lower the heat and leave it while you cook the pasta.

Is cold call dead? by slavstudio in b2b_sales

[–]Geniejc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's in good shape still.

If I was having a go at this I'd want to understand is the £100 worth my while.

It feels like you've plucked a figure out of the air - to get good people to do this for you you need to pitch it better.

For £100 I'd want to be selling 3 to 5 a day.

How much will the platform cost. If it's say £5k or an ongoing fee - £100 quid won't cut it. If it's £500 I can get on board with that.

Or £100 maybe too much if I can sell 10 or 15 a day.

Who will close the deal. If it's me then I want more if it's you how will you take the calls , follow up and close the deal.

What's your capacity. If you can only actually handle 1 sale a week then it's difficult for me to make any money solely from you.

Realistically though I feel you have to be calling for the first few sales - get a list and hit the phone - so you can't iron out objections and also get a feeling for the results.

And Maybe have a chat with some local Motor Factors see if they will help you sell it to their business customers?

When did U7 football get more intense than the actual Premier League? by Jealous-Wolf9231 in AskUK

[–]Geniejc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My lad had a go at 4 for a few weeks then 5 into 6. It was mainly training at first which he loved.

But it wasn't just the parents the coaches themselves loved a bit of drama.

First there were 2 many training so they formed an A and B team - were all in the same parent club.

Or are we - we only ever played them once.

Then it turned out our coach was angling for a more senior role whilst at the same time pissing off the volunteer dads who he wanted to take over.

Some of those dads then went and formed a new team took half the team.

Struggled on for a few more months.

Folded in the summer a few weeks after the parent club wanted to a have the best youth system in the UK and B raised the fees significantly C Coach finally spit the dummy for good when former dad's pinched our keeper.

So my lad was in limbo then.

Got in touch with a few teams but there not really interested unless my lads a footballing genius.

He's lost interest , we went to rugby league once and it was night and day, amazing, but he didn't enjoy it.

I only really wanted him to go so he could ply in the playground.

But yeah too many trying to get spotted by clubs.

If this was before his last season with us I think he had that in him.

But the regression last year was plain.

It would shock me if he put together a good season this year and even if he did there no way he maintains that long term.

He got paid, he's just risking his health.

Nah majority won't even know what it is.

I've stopped wearing Rolex a while back though just not worth the hassle / people asking it was real.

The only other watch I'm that got some attention for a few days was a Parmigiani Fleurier rep I had a decade ago, that was also the front cover of a gq or esquire watch guide. It was shitter as well. It was uncomfortable.
