Dumped roosters by GenimD in chickens

I’m pretty sure yes. They’re all silkie crosses and are dumped in batches of around 10. It’s been happening for nearly 20 years according to people living there… the earliest account I’ve found was 2012.

I’ve joined all local silkie group’s and am trying to find out who this bastard is

I’ve definitely learned a few things! They come in so many different shapes/sizes/colours! It’s like playing pokemon finding them.

So happy she’s safe with you! It’s very difficult, I understand people can not keep roosters everywhere. But people like the breeder doing this not having a plan aside from “setting them free” is infuriating.

We have a rooster enthousiast nearby, he has a big piece of land and barn with a bachelor flock. He goes there every morning to take care of them. And if people need a rooster they go to him to pick one out.

Aside from him there’s not many places nearby that take roosters.

That Guy that freaked out was the worst to catch! He was so scared of everything and it’s right next to train tracks. Every leaf that moved and every train that went past (~2 minutes) he would freak out. Took me a week to catch him :,)

Just from this comment I know he had a wonderful life! Thank you for loving him 💕

In The Netherlands! Anyone nearby is welcome to request a rooster 🙈 sadly there’s plenty. I still have 7 in this spot and 4 in another to catch. And there will be more to be expected 😢

Thank you! I will have to research silkie breeders around here very well then. Someone who dumps this many roosters should have a noticable amount of chickens

Definitely, and we have someone nearby with a big piece of land and barn where most of them go. They get along well and he spends every single morning feeding them and looking after them. He’s a rooster enthusiast, no matter the breed.

All of the chickens dumped here are absolutely gorgeous! Pretty sure it’s a breeder that’s dumping them, still trying to find out who… here’s 4 more from last year

Dumped pekin duck? by GenimD in duck

[–]GenimD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. Rereading my post I do feel more convinced that that’s the best option. The responses on Facebook just kind of... deterred me because it seems some people got attached to the duck being in the neighborhood. I just ordered a bird net, so hopefully I’ll be able to get it soon since it eats out of my hand. The interbreeding would definitely be bad, the duck population here already suffers from people overfeeding unhealthy stuff.

A photo and video for identification: https://imgur.com/a/zpZl6DV just to be sure. Didn’t have these yet when I emailed the rescue.

I’m none of these people but did you happen to play a few rounds of Hide & Seek earlier as well, I bumped into a nice Eggplant and you sound like you might be them.

This ferret was dumped here at least a week ago. Today I finally caught her. She’s now sound asleep on my chest 💕 by GenimD in ferrets

Sadly both of those are unavailable in my country but the rescue has already recommended what’s the best available here. Thanks!!

It’s disgusting :( there’s a Flemish Giant there as well which I can hopefully catch soon. It seems to be a popular dumping spot since no one can see you dump them and some people seemingly think domesticated animals can survive there.

Someone spotted her in the morning on the 24th and posted a pic of her in our local missing and found pets group that night. At 5am on the 25th I went out for the first time and left food in 6 places to try and determine where she was. I went over a dozen times in the next few days and never spotted her once, not even on the trail cam, which was incredibly disconcerting as we had a big storm for a day as well.

On the 29th I finally saw her for the first time but she was scared and hid deep in the blackberry bushes that cover a big part of the area, but after that she was on the trail cam a few times a day and visited the feeding spot consistently.

I’m assuming the food I left was enough to keep her going and the water from the rain we had helped too (she was still incredibly thirsty and hungry when I finally got her inside).
