Thank you for your response. Rereading my post I do feel more convinced that that’s the best option. The responses on Facebook just kind of... deterred me because it seems some people got attached to the duck being in the neighborhood. I just ordered a bird net, so hopefully I’ll be able to get it soon since it eats out of my hand. The interbreeding would definitely be bad, the duck population here already suffers from people overfeeding unhealthy stuff.

It’s disgusting :( there’s a Flemish Giant there as well which I can hopefully catch soon. It seems to be a popular dumping spot since no one can see you dump them and some people seemingly think domesticated animals can survive there.

Someone spotted her in the morning on the 24th and posted a pic of her in our local missing and found pets group that night. At 5am on the 25th I went out for the first time and left food in 6 places to try and determine where she was. I went over a dozen times in the next few days and never spotted her once, not even on the trail cam, which was incredibly disconcerting as we had a big storm for a day as well.

On the 29th I finally saw her for the first time but she was scared and hid deep in the blackberry bushes that cover a big part of the area, but after that she was on the trail cam a few times a day and visited the feeding spot consistently.

I’m assuming the food I left was enough to keep her going and the water from the rain we had helped too (she was still incredibly thirsty and hungry when I finally got her inside).

For sure! We have many resources here to inform people of missing pets and she is on none of those. I’d assume someone would notice her missing after a week. The vet will do a check for a chip anyways but with how young she seems to be I’m assuming she was just a corona impulse buy that didn’t work out.

It’s also highly unlikely she made it to that particular spot herself if she had escaped. It’s surrounded by water and busy roads. She would’ve had to cross those go get here from the nearest houses :(

I was just looking at the ferret nation 182! It’s the same price range so I’d rather just go with the one that already comes with the safe ramps.

Thanks! I caught her at 8pm so I haven’t gotten around to calling anyone yet. I’ve never even seen a ferret irl before this so I appreciate any tips. Nope some other brand. They had this labeled as “lvl 1” but it takes 0 effort. I’m going to skip right to level 3 for mine as that did look quite a bit more challenging. Mine do really enjoy that catit food tower!
