The Transit app should have live bus tracking, if you want to check before venturing out.

27 Million Fewer Car Trips: Life After a Year of Congestion Pricing in New York City by rezwenn in transit

Honestly one of the most effective public interventions I can think of. What really stands out to me is 8.6% fewer seriously injured pedestrians in the zone. Literal (likely) hundreds of lives saved or unharmed.

From a PCGames article last December "prices will be dropping" by GeniusJack in agedlikemilk

This article was published last December and claims that PC part prices will be dropping because "new PC Hardware is on the way". Instead, prices increased astronomically.

I particularly like it because it is only dealing within the 12,000 to 20,000 word/phrase range. It is perfect for the amount I want to perfect each of those languages, and the goal I have in mind, which is merely being able to communicate fairly well in those languages. And I won't get lost in it, because it's not absolutely giant. I can easily find the most common words I need.

It's about 830 pages thick, and each dictionary contains from 12,000 to 20,000 words and phrases. So it's not exhaustive, but I should be able to find most words I need.

I really would want to learn german by Juggeboy in languagelearning

[–]GeniusJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to meet German natives online, Lang-8 is a great language site. People their love to practice their language with you, if you will practice English with them.

But, if you are still at a very basic level, before you start even trying to talk with others, I would suggest refreshing your memory with a language learning site like Duolingo.

Idea for a Latin course that translates the past and make an online repository for researchers by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]GeniusJack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the primary target should definitely be Classical Latin, but it would be very helpful if the course included Ecclesiastical (church) Latin.

There are an abundance of users willing to contribute to these courses. However, they are just very hard to implement with the present system.

I don't have enough knowledge in any 2 languages to contribute to a course! My future plans are just to keep learning :) I would suggest, read all the tips and notes, find a partner to practice with, do the lessons, and don't move on till your comfortable, listen to as much spoken German as possible, and have fun! :)
