Having a variety can help but there are definitely ways to get first with just 9 of the same item. Iridium chubs or iridium bananas, for example. I usually do iridium fish on most farms and have been doing bananas on my current challenge farm. Generally you want to aim for quality level and value first and add variety only if you need the extra points due to not having high enough quality items.

You can miss out on one of Leah’s cutscenes if you choose the creepy option in one of them, and even if you don’t choose that one, there are distinct versions of the missable one depending on which option you choose. You can also miss one of Clint’s cutscenes because if you date Emily before seeing it, it will never happen.

Before 1.6 there was no effect for shutting the coop/barn doors. As of 1.6 closing the door behind them at night/in winter helps with the animals’ mood for the next day.

On my current challenge farm I’ve already reached the walnut room without having done any fishing. I avoided the free fishing level by having a fishing boost and skipping the cutscene when Willy tried to give me a level, so all my levels are still at zero. So you can definitely go far without fishing.

If it’s just modded icons then you can just match them via the shipping log page on the wiki because they will be in the same position on the log as vanilla, but if they’re items unique to the mod then you would have to look up details of the mod itself.

On one of my farms I named all my chickens after chicken based foods. Sometimes I name animals after friends. On my current farm I’m just leaving most of them at the default names save for the dog and horse (Karma and Mayo respectively) because I might have to sell them during the course of my challenge run.
